I tried to make the title as vague as possible, you have been warned as best as I can.


So you play as Urianger as part of the solo instance and he has a couple of moves I'd like to talk about.

His moveset:
Benefic II
Aspected Helios (Diurnal)
Collective Unconsciousness (unique version)
Malefic IV
Draw(unique)
Minor Arcana(unique)



The moves I'd like to talk about is Draw and Minor Arcana since they are what are going to keep Ast unique in the healer role.

So Draw was only giving me ranged cards, if others can tell me if they ever drew anything besides Ewer please say so but atm my only experience is pure Ewer. Draw functions the same as now target party member(more awkward in the solo instance) damage goes up so looking like that system might be here to stay.

Minor Arcana however threw me for a loop as I was targeting Thancred as it was a Lord of the Crown(same as draw only ever drew Lord) and nothing was happening, turns out this is the Lord from Stormblood, the damage card and I would love to have it back, I miss Lord and Lady animation so much.

Another thing to note Minor Arcana could be drawn separately to the draw card meaning no need to draw 1st to then have to minor Arcana to then target whatever to use just Minor Arcana then target.


What do you all think? Do you think it is a glimpse at what Ast could be becoming in EW or stay Urianger specific?

Don't look towards a quest where you temporarily control an NPC as an indicator of future class design. They are purposefully simplified and changed for these cases.

You weren't drawing Ewer, you were drawing The Scroll, which was a generic card that applied to everybody in the party that increased damage and attack speed.

Yeah they gave you old Minor Arcana for the quest. I could see it coming back some day, as it is currently kind of irrelevant. Not used nearly as much as the current design intended.

I do hope the Minor Arcana reversion is a hint at a possible decision to go back to the way it was with some RNG control potentially. Honestly if they just gave it 2 charges, you could actually sit on the old Lady of Crowns to use at a more opportune moment.

I don't think I'm that confident that Urianger was designed that way specifically to foreshadow that, but it's wishful thinking. They really have no intention of giving us any tangible information on healer changes right now and probably won't up until the actions reveal in either late summer or early fall, so it's easy to grasp at straws as most of us are anxious to see what will happen.

Honestly? I don't think it suggests much, because I feel it's a limitation of the Roleplay system to no have the job function exactly like the job you play and of course Scions have their own flavours too. For example Alisae's RDM didn't play like a RDM either.

But DPS-wise? I was better than Glare/Broil spam for sure. I had 3 buttons for 3 combos that affects my DPS output that I'd regularly swap around based on CD's, nothing complicated but enough to not be monotonous.
