I find it funny that so many people in this thread are vehemently denying that the dev team for FFXIV are fans of Bloodborne and incorporating elements from it directly into FFXIV. Look at the Shadowkeeper boss fight. Now go look at Ludwig the Holy Blade. Literally taking huge inspiration for monster design, too. Not just gearsets.
As for what inspired Hidetaka Miyazaki for Bloodborne's outfits, take a gander at this French movie from 2001:
Like yeah, Bloodborne took from old styles and what not, but I mean it's like RyuDragnier is saying. There are too many references too quickly for it to just be coincidental.
The striking set for Cryptlurkers is literally Marvelous Chester's set with an altered mask and hat.
The fending set is an altered variant of the Faraam armor set.
The DRG set is an altered variant of the Yar'har Ghul Hunter set, as are the mage hoods that use that mask.
Now how about that Reaper outfit?
It's the Old Hunter set from Bloodborne, almost to a T.
Stop denying it. It's ok for the FFXIV dev team to make these references. It just shows that they have good taste.
Well said. All of it.

Lots of great ideas being thrown out here. This is what this thread was meant for. LOL
Soge01's idea of a Crypt Keeper is interesting but sounds more like a Buffed up Necromancer in execution. Also the idea of a steampunk Regenerator type class makes sense as well although how would you differentiate the weapon from Machinist? Creepy dancing would be hard to implement seeing how many dances are already in FFXIV emote wise. Another thing we need to think of is the Limit Break and how its executed.
RyuDragnier brings up good mechanics that could be implemented in the move pool.
I found an image of an 'Edgy' Exorcist though its so edgy its hard to call it such.
Exorcist Class
I can picture this with a hammer or scepter easily. Plus the chain aesthetic is most pleasing to the eye having a very 'edgy' appearance. However likely the red would have to go and be replaced by a different color aside a bright color like white yellow or orange. Maybe a dark blue?
My idea for Crypt Keepr does? Hmm, then maybe a job concept like that would be better off as a mainly a physical DPS Job Class with only some magical spells via Mhachi coffin voidsent summoning.Lots of great ideas being thrown out here. This is what this thread was meant for. LOL

As for my steampunk themed Regenerator job class concept, I was thinking either the Job Class would use either a sniper rifle, so as to differentiate from Machnist's one handed fire arms. Or miniature gatling guns attached to the user's wrists (Think of Scholar's Heavensward AF Hand Gear)for unique dual gun slinging combat.
Ah, I seem good point. Maybe quick and decisive ritualistic movements would be better then. Ones where each set of movements have a singular defined meaning and effect behind their movement, thus each giving rise to different benefits depending on the users combination. Though, now I'm thinking I'm describing a more complicated version of Dancer. xD
I think establishing the basics of the dark exorcist job class we're trying to come up with is better to be focused on first before the limit break. That way when we get that stuff done first we'll have a more clear idea of what we want the limit break of this job class to be afterwards.
Weirdly enough, I was trying to look up a job class I thought existed in FF3 when RyuDragnier mentioned the move pool for his ideas on a dark Healer. The move pool he mentioned sounds pretty similar to FF3's Evoker. Though for some reason, my brain keeps wanting to think of his job idea/FF3's Evoker using Far Eastern paper talismans in order to execute all the different spells.
That image sort of gives me Berserk vibes, or at least it looking sort of similar to Gut's cursed armor here and there. Though with that type of look, maybe a name other than Exorcist, though still has the same meaning behind it would be better.
I wouldn't know what to replace the red color with; I struggle just to get the perfect color on my on glamourx for hours on end and modifying colors on an image a completely different ball game. Or at least for myself. xD Another weapon that could work with that armor is mace! Hm, what are your thoughts on a one handed maces that could stretch itself via a chain to whip-like proportions in order to execute long ranged attacks?

Although that would be cool in theory I doubt the technology to create such a weapon could be utilized in this game. Not that the technology doesn't exist, but could you possibly craft such a weapon on your own? Likely a Gatling gun combined with a Mix ability from the Chemist would be your best bet.As for my steampunk themed Regenerator job class concept, I was thinking either the Job Class would use either a sniper rifle, so as to differentiate from Machnist's one handed fire arms. What you may be thinking of is the Onmyodo of the far east. They aren't quite "edgy" seeing they primarily wore white. However that doesn't mean Excorcist couldn't be based and learned from someone in Hingashi. It doesn't necessarily have to be Ishgard.Weirdly enough, I was trying to look up a job class I thought existed in FF3 when RyuDragnier mentioned the move pool for his ideas on a dark Healer. Sounds a lot like the one-of-a-kind Belmont heirloom the Vampire Slayer from Castlevania. Although if I'm correct the weapon your looking for is a flail. A spiked or weighted mace connected to a chain. However that kind of weapon would in no way fit a Healer I think, a Tank maybe, but not a Healer. Flails were designed to crush and destroy they couldn't heal at all. Remember to attribute the symbolism of the Job's tool. So far I believe a scepter is your best bet so far as it works for both an Onmyodo of Hingashi or an Exorcist from Ishgard.Another weapon that could work with that armor is mace! As for Exorcist Artifact Gear I was hoping to use that earlier picture as just a reference and come up with something based on it but still unique. So far we've only seen Inquisitors from Ishgard's clergy, however with the Church's power dwindling significantly since the end of Heavensward maybe to gain relevance once more they create a new type of Job designed to protect the people of Ishgard. Similar to how the Machinist's formed the Hounds, the Orthodox Church of Ishgard combines the skills of chirurgeons and the fighting abilities of Inquisitors. We could even go a step further by having the Warrior of Light contacted to join by request of Ser Aymeric to spy on the fledgling group and make sure their intentions remain pure and in Ishgard's best interest.
Another idea for skills could be the use of Banish I, Banish II, Banish III and so on which as I recall were the original Light aspected spells introduced in Final Fantasy lore. We could add a few Water spells as well since Holy Water is a key part of an Exorcist's arsenal.
