Sage was revealed on February 5th, 2021.
I know Yoshi's done a couple interviews since then, but I've been out of the loop. Has there been any word about what they're going to do for Endwalker with regards to the healers in this time?

Only thing I really remember right now is they're changing AST to be a "pure" healer like WHM, with SCH and Sage being barrier types.
the infamous triple-lobotomy--lost it's cards and modifiers, lost it's time spells (asie from mandatory-MP-management via lightspeed), lost all of diurnal sect. so far, it's gained nothing to make up for any of that!

Edit: Other than they'll try to increase healing requirements but this is only in the high end content.

I feel like they said that before this expansion too, but, might be remembering it wrong. In any case, hope it ends up being more successful than what we got this time
I'm pretty sure I remember something like that.
How the healer role would have to "Focus on healing" which is why they added new tools for SCH to heal.
Kinda wish those interview could focus on what people want. Thinking about BRD, SMN and healers.
I mean, was there actually a major part of the community actually wondering if the players would be able to make moonjump out of all things EW could bring?

-Talks about how Yoshi-P wanted a new job idea instead of one from previous games and someone on the team suggested a healer that uses a weapon they control magically vs holding it in their hands.
Famitsu:
-Sage will be different from SCH because SCH will use a fairy to heal and place shields. (Does this mean fairies will focus on placing shields or is this just in reference to Seraph?)
-Sage will have different offensive and defensive behavior to SCH
-Due to people saying healers didn't have much to do, they increased the attack intensity and damage output when designing Eden Promise (Savage)
-They plan to balance EW content with having both a pure and shield healer in the party
-They'll be adjusting the raid finder algorithm so parties won't get doubles of the same type of healer (pure vs shield)
-Pure and Shield healers will not be separate roles
-For Dungeons, any healer should be able to clear them
-As of this interview (2/21), development was "barley over" 1/3 of the way there
-They currently have no plans of changing how Healer LB work or how healers increase the LB bar

They said forever that healer balance was too bad to add another, so last round they pretty well eliminated any difference between them. I just wish they would look at something other than DPS to have healers do. They have also said they were increasing damage output and intensity before to make healers work harder and that also flatlined. They will never making healing difficult beyond the first encounter with the current design. Once you know the damage is coming you can simply memorize it. Also gearing makes jobs way too strong by the time the next round of content rolls out, so only the latest things challenge to any degree and that is quickly diminished once you start acquiring better gear.For those who don't want to/can't read the articles:
