Now to explain some of my points in order. To begin, I have suspected from the time Reaper was revealed that it would be nothing but a Pure DPS. Other than the fact of Yoshi P's statement on how he can't see Zenos being a support giving credence to this point; I generalyl cannot see a Job that focuses on dishing unrelenting damage along with it changing over the course of the fight to give any form of support. It just doesn't look the part. Besides, there is no rule stating that there can't be more than one Pure Melee DPS in this game and I feel at least another one would be welcomed to even things out. As we have plenty in the way of Utility from other jobs as it is in comparison. Another way I see this is distinguishing within Gearsets of the Melee Role, wherein RPR will be like DRG's SAM under the Maiming set as SAM is to MNK under the Striking Set. I believe that would be appropriate in all honesty.

Continuing on... from what I have gleamed from the trailer; RPR seems to have 2 distinct Weaponskill Combo Chains. Two with different starters and with slightly different finishers as far as the 3 hits are concerned in animation. (Would have to look real close to see the difference but it's there) One thing that sticks out, is the fact that in comparison to other Melees; RPR is going in the sort of DNC approach. Essentially having 2 GCD Weaponskills in a combo instead of 3. This gives me the idea that the job would possibly have a 3rd 2 GCD Weaponskill combo to facilitate the short chains. And I believe that the skill that was shown in the Benchmark that Zenos used to push back Alisaie might be one such skill. (Will have to wait and see)

Skipping down to the other points as the self explanatory ones are self explanatory. The Avatar Possession is probably the most straightforward and yet ambiguous ability yet in terms of reveal. On one hand, it's straight to the point a skill that essentially acts as a overall buff. On the other, this ability opens SO many doors for other jobs, BECAUSE it's the first ever job to implement transformation into it's kit (And I for one am HYPE to see it)

Anyway, hype aside getting into my reasoning on the points I made; I see this ability being a 80 ability MAINLY because they chose to show this skill so early for it's reveal. The fact that they were confident in showing this skill, could only mean they have so much more to show during the Job Actions Trailer for the Media Tour. So that gives me the idea that this skill might just be a skill we unlock at level 80 and continue to build off on said ability. It makes the most sense to me. Another thing is the whole "Inner Release" issue that some may think is gonna happen with this job from what we've seen from the trailer. And though I saw some who we skeptical on it; I must capitalize that what we saw in the trailer was most likely a trailer trick. And that the ability is probably more than just spamming one attack multiple times. I highly doubt they would do that, ESPECIALLY with Yoshi P stating in the interview that he wants to establish different gameplay mechanics for every job. (Yet I look at the Tanks and can't really say I see it TBH but whatever)

Regardless, I can definitely say that the skill that was repeating in the trailer was definitely a trailer trick; essentially showcasing a move in different angles as they never actually show the skill animated between shots as it starts. So I can say with certainty that it will act like something of SMN's Dreadwyrm/Firebird Trance which will change every existing weaponskill and probably even the Avatar Abilities to new attack animations with bigger potencies than before. This give more of a sense of the *Dynamic combat* that Yoshi P was stating during the FanFest. Also to the one who thought that the Avatar would change as well, no, I do not believe the Designers would go that route as well. The job itself is already capturing the whole dynamic identity just by merging once you fill the gauge. There would be no point in the Avatar "becoming progressively more menacing and edgier" When the transformation itself is already as savage as it is.

Other than the fact that it would be cool to be able to extend this transformation during combat like that of BLM's Enochian and DRG's Blood of the Dragon; I won't exactly hold my breath on that too much as it probably won't fit in terms of lore with how dangerous it is to even deal with Voidsents. Nonetheless, I'll pray something like that can happen. So what do you guys think? This is general from religiously watching the Reaper trailer numerous times each day, because I swear I'm just so damn hype for this job as it fits my character to a capital T! So ready for the Job Actions Trailer man! Only a month away!

I was talking to my friend the other day and I think Reaper will have 2 gauges. One you build with normal attacks like SAM to spend on your Avatar attacks. The other gauge will either be like BRDs Soul Voice gauge and fill as a DoT ticks, or it'll be like BLM's Enochian gauge and fill as you keep a buff up. Once full you can transform which will change your basic damage combo into a stronger damage combo similar to how Gierskogul becomes Nastrond or how DNCs basic weaponskills become steps.

i can see reaper with something like the continuation combos of the gunbreaker and a spells change like the summoner when it goes into berserk mode

    One or two gauges probably.

One for voidsent attacks and another for your Devil Trigger mode.

I imagine the burst mode is going to have 2-3 attacks. One for ST, AoE and possibly a finisher attack that ends the mode early.

I really think the job will be a builder spender archetype. Considering it's going to derive from FFXI Dark Knight which was slow and meaty.

I like this video. Picks up on a few things I overlooked and offers some speculation.

This is going to feel like a very bursty DPS. As much as I would love to main this, I feel the competition for party slots for endgame will be difficult.

Last Melee they did was Sam and Sam ended up being amazing. Rare for jobs to both feel complete at 50 and also not peaking at 50 unlike say MCH with so few evolutionary skills.

Reaper however comes at a time where SE really wants to cut skills and mechanics for the sake of being easy to play somtimes trivial. Combined with starting very late at 70 this doesn’t bode well for me personally as DNC felt severely incomplete at its base and worse below it when doing roulettes

But being Melee I doubt it would be the case, I just want it to be engaging, not remedial like DNC, not reductive like MCH. And not lacking like DRK. Don’t even care if it’s clunky and don’t care about numbers

If it's anything like recent additions then low level stuff is gonna suck and it'll only feel good at high levels. I'm going straight to a training dummy and slowly adding skills so I know what to expect rotation-wise since we start at 70.
