Maybe I’m just crazy, but I think Reaper may be a sign of giving some normal jobs instant death abilities like Blue Mage, and possibly inviting BLU into the normal scheme.

I say this because other than Marluxia in Kingdom Hearts, Reapers have never really had a basis in Final Fantasy, other than appearing in the animation of Instant Death spells. It would honestly be weird not to give Reaper an instant death skill.

I think in EndWalker this might also be practical in more complex high level dungeons (if they up the ante). Right now everyone knows it’s normal to just pull wall to wall and burn the trash. Well, if endwalker’s trailer is anything to look at, there’s gonna be a lot of trash to fight in the “final days”. With more enemies to kill, Instant death becomes something more of a practical mechanic.

Personally I'm expecting people to make Mass Effect-related macros for it.
Like say, "ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL" or something.

i expect Reaper to be kind of like this (role skills not included):

    - generic 3 button single target combo, that may or may not, generate ressources.
    - 2-3 button AoE combo
    - "possession" mode is just inner release in disguise (might need ressource to trigger)
    - 1 ranged attacks for the lulz
    - 1 defensive skill on a 90-120sec CD
    - 1-2 gap closers
    - 1 DoT, just because.
    - at least 2 self healing abilities (one or both might need said ressource)

Honestly, i don't expect very much out of it, aside it being generic as usual, as much as it pains me to say this.

You realize Reaper is a melee DPS, right? It's not a tank so I dunno why you're giving it a tank rotation.

Yes, ranged dps are way below on personal dps levels. Too much according to most players.
Casters can be above most melee if the fight allows them to stay in place to cast.

Melee jobs tend to have awkwardly long combos, and for max efficiency, you need to weave in buffs, abilities etc, at specific points, so it lines up to be able to get maximum burst damage when main FPS buffs come off CD, which can be 3min, so your combos are basically 3min long. Also you need to time it all with boss rotation so you don't use heavy hits as they become invulnerable etc.
So for reaper you'll get some dps buffs, and you want to align that with possession, without any of them being available and wasting time, waiting for the other.
Because of this you'll spend more time looking at your skill bar, than at the fight, missing mechanics, and die more often tanking is quite simple, cause you can spend more time looking at boss/cast bar.
You won't be able to easily solo lots of content, because you're squishy and no reliable self heal - though RDM can sustain themselves, so we'll see how reaper does.
    Please look forward to it.

Forget about running dungeons at release, lv 70-80 - your only decent XP will be from FATES. At lv 80 you'll do MSQ, at 81 you'll be able to run Trust dungeons.
