Post [Important] PlayStation 5 (PS5) - Adaptive Triggers instead of Double Tap

    Hello Dev Team,

First and foremost, thank you for putting the time in to make Final Fantasy XIV the way it is today, and to include the PlayStation 5.

Upon playing Final Fantasy XIV yesterday, I've realized that double tapping the L2 & R2 buttons to access the extended crossbar, it might be easier, more efficient, and the user would have more control over the crossbar to use adaptive triggers for this mechanic. Pressing the button down past the threshold would allow the extended crossbar instead of double tapping.

Furthermore, using this technique can possibly add another crossbar when you press BOTH trigger buttons all the way down past the threshold, or can be expanded to an extended version when you press one trigger partial, and the other (L2 or R2) all the way down past the adaptive threshold.

These are just a few ideas that come to mind that the PS5s adaptive triggers (and not just the PS5, but any controller that utilizes this technology) can help further ease of access and control.

Personally I find that sometimes when playing with a controller, I might double tap and forget I've done so, or can't double tap fast enough when in a hurry. But with adaptive triggers, I will be able to know exactly where I am in the crossbar at anytime, and access the extended crossbar much quicker.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a wonderful day!

Thought I do not own a PS5 I do play the PS4 Controller on the PC and an 8bitdo SN30 controller. I think this idea would be great and I might even buy a PS5 Controller in hopes they do add this.

You'd need a PS5 in order to use Haptic Triggers. It doesn't simply work on PC unless someone figured out the firmware using 3rd party applications.

Thanks for the info! I plan on getting a PS5 when they actually sell them in stores and not bundled with things I dont want but I like the look of the PS5 Controller so I might as well order one.

It's an amazing controller, much more comfortable than the Xbox and DS4 controller

Hey dev team, I think this is a great idea using dual sense adaptive triggers press to access wxhb. I would be very happy if this support was added to the game

I hope this get picked at some point, having an option to enable adaptive trigger would make gaming with a PS5 controller much more enjoyable.

Perhaps as a fourth hotbar access rather than replacing double-tap directly?

You could still turn on one or the other or both as preferred.

I mean I'm all for options... This sounds like a very bad idea given how often you'd end up doing this, and the triggers' mechanic internals being prone to being damaged.
