Berserk meant a lot to me, it's a bit cliché to say but I read the Manga during a dark time in my life and even tho Berserk and Guts are like the opposite of what I generally like in fiction it really spoke to me.
Especially the Bonfire of Dreams and Cracks in the Blade.
It made me feel like there was someone who understood how I felt during my depression.
It's a bit sad to me tho that most of what people knew of Berserk was just the violence and edgy content, because it was so much more than that.

I am still kinda shocked about it and dunno what to say so I'll just leave three of my favorite quotes from the Manga that comes to mind right now.

“Even if we painstakingly piece together something lost, it doesn't mean things will ever go back to how they were.” – Guts.

“People bring the small flames of their wishes together… since they don’t want to extinguish the small flame… they’ll bring that small flame to a bigger fire. A big flame named Griffith. But my flame isn't to be seen among them. I think I just stopped by to warm myself by the bonfire.” – Guts

“ The thing about hatred ... it's the place where people who can't look sorrow in the eye without wavering run off to ” – Godo

I stand with the Balmung DRK line. It's one hell of a feeling seeing all those bonfires alight at once.

Been following Berserk for long time, was the first time I got to experience manga back in 2004. Unfortunately, I cannot say I am shocked to hear of his passing the man from what could gather has been ill for a long time now.

If Berserk has taught me anything life goes on, o7.

While I wasn't that familiar with the work itself I am well aware the impact across the industry, proof of legend status. I'm sure his influence will continue, leaving a mark long after passing. Ultimately- regardless of a legend status or simple quiet life a loss is a loss and that is truly unfortunate, may those who considered him close find peace and we all continue to be inspired by what best things we can remember him by.
