Idea; tying "Glamour Plates" to your Job Crystal instead

I love me some Glamour, but if we're being honest, the system is still a *little* bit of a hassle. I think most people have said, the "Transmog" system from Diablo 3 was pretty excellent in most cases.

Anyways, right now there is a limit of 15 Glamour Plates, which is obviously fewer than the available Jobs (to say nothing of gathering skills). Obviously, there has to be SOME kind of limit, otherwise you'd wind up with craziness like 99 Glamour Plates on a single character!

But also, I noticed on my BLU that when upgrading gear, he'd have to actually make a trip to Ul'dah, change job, and then change BACK in order to re-glamour his gear. Not a big deal, but just felt sort of unnecessary.

I just wondered, why not tie Glamour Plates to your Job Crystal? Maybe there's some benefit to the current system I'm not quite seeing, but that seems like it would be a well enough solution, and might simplify the system a bit more, instead of dealing with "what Glamour Plate is assigned to each Gear-set number, and if I change the Gear-set number, I have to change... yada yada yada".

    Again, just an idea!

Also; now that Belts are being removed, I HIGHLY encourage you (the Devs) to move the Soul Crystal and Off-hand/Shield slots, and put them at the TOP of the screen, right next to Weapon! That would just really tidy-up the UI and make it symmetrical!

Wouldn't really change anything. The real issue is memory limitations, not the UI.

You can already link plates to gear sets... and gear sets includes weapon/soul crystal.
We just need a few more plates to use.

Problem with tying plates to soul crystals is that you end up with a limit of one glamour plate per job. Also, crafters and gatherers don't have soul crystals.

    This.

I would honestly prefer for them to add more plates, enough for 1 per battle class, and a couple extras.

I would also like for them to enable the use of plates everywhere. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not...but found out last week you can use glamour plates inside the chapel at the Sanctum of the Twelve. Considering it's neither a sanctuary or starting city, it proves it's possible to be use glamour plates elsewhere.

Personally, I would like them to just merge gear sets and glamour plates. So each gear set has a single plate attached. Currently that gives us something like 44, so you could just have multiple gear sets using identical actual gear but varying glamour (I do that now, like 4 for my pld, 3 for sam and maybe 2 for drg).

The problem here is all my crafters are tied to 1 plate, and there simply aren’t enough plates for every job so all my mages look the same...

Heck instead of plates just let us use the glamour dresser, set our appearance on our character itself then save the gear set, with glamours embedded.
