I’d love to see G’raha turn on us and we’ll have to put down our new best forced friend

I'm just about to enter Ishgard, and I'm still making up my mind about the overall main plot. A lot of it is rehashing plot-elements from previous FF-installments, which is simply the nature of themepark-style M(M)O's. I enjoy callbacks like the wandering palace for example.
And it can't be worse than FF13. SqEn will have a hard time to ever live that one down IMO.
All I'll say is that the general consensus seems to be that Heavensward is when it got good.I'm just about to enter Ishgard, and I'm still making up my mind about the overall main plot. I still think that ARR was good towards the end, but most of it really felt like world building and just setting things up and it does make sense later.
Every expansion is actually connected and builds on each other they all come together and make sense as a whole.

Bringing "The Last of Us" and "good story" into the same context should be a prosecutable crime.

Well i disagree on this part. An RPG can, should, and has, very well cut you off from side content if you progressed to far with no way to returning.Ofc there's no sense of emergency, it's an MMO and it's limited as you need players to have access to every content unlocked at any point.
It's also a design that reach other games, FF XV and VIIR had a way to "go back in time", Dragon Quest also somewhat had a way to go back in time. An RPG cannot lock you out of previous content as there is many side quest and such.
Xenoblade 1 and 2 are examples of that
In 1 several Dozen of side Quests can be entirely missed and become inacessable do to story progression rendering the Area they where located in inacessable.
Several parts of the Colectopedia(a system where you use items found on the field to fill it in and gain rewards if you finish a "page"(aka all items of a certain type in a certain location) could no longer be found do to the area being no longer existing. The only way to ever doing them, is finishing the game, and starting New game+ on the fiel(or doing an entirealy new file) at which point however, you have to play the ENTIRE game again(granted its far easier do to you being overleveld as all hell)
2 does the same, but far less seveer with only 1 Region becoming inacessable and that area having very few quests to begin with(like maybe a dozen quests total)
Funnily enough Xenoblade X, despite being the closests to being a single player MMO there is in my opinion in terms of Structure, combat, and other factors.(as in it feels like an MMO.. just without it being an MMO actualy) still has missable content, the Lao heart to hearts are missable completly, do to story reassons making them inacessable after a certain story progression.(however they are not tied with any achievements, or completion Percentage(you can get 100% without them))
however FFXIV is an MMO, so it cant do that, sadly i do say that this is my biggest gripe with the game, it cant change Field Areas, citys etc more then visualy changing a model(So you cant have for example Ishgard with a pillar blocking the Stairs as the main ishgard map as that would create two different collission maps, one for those who arent yet there, and one for those wo are yet there, it can only change the pillar that is already there, to be destroyed, it has the same colission as the OG pillar, but looks visualy different)
I'm fairly new to FF14.
Is it bad to think the class/job quest storylines are far more interesting than the MSQ story? Well I've only barely made it out of ARR, so I still have to see what happens next.
I will say, I hope Minfilia doesn't get abducted/captured again...

tbf. some Story lines are far better then others(like.. why is summoner actualy relevant to the main plot? what the fuck square enix what the fuck? whm is just "imma fix a tree" and summoner here is dealing withI'm fairly new to FF14.
