Final Fantasy XIV doesn't actually have that good of a story

The thing I like most about XIV's story isn't the MSQ, it's how full the world itself is of lore that's entirely unconnected to the primary plot - the whole of the Ivalice titles also have this focus, and I adore it to bits.

The only thing I have issue with is how indestructible everyone is. Like getting destroyed by magic missles and not being dead or having any visible injuries.

The visible injuries thing goes back to the game's rating. Different countries have different rules about just how far they can go with things like blood, wounds, corpses, and violence in general. This is why we have things like Raubahn not visibly bleeding after getting his arm chopped off, or no spray of gore from Teledji Adeledji getting cut in half.

OP never claimed that FF14 is a bad story though. They simply said it's a good story but it wasn't as good as the hype.
