That idea makes a lot of sense. Totally behind that.In my opinion they should inform us sooner than later what their plans are.
They should flag the servers as OCE servers and/ or make a 'virtual' data center with giving people an initial chance for the transfers . So things can start to get settled earlier .
After the physical data center move another free transfer would let undecided players make the plunge.

I think it kinda depends on what they're actually planning?Agree with this suggestion. I have an FC mate who is planning to buy a personal house as well but is holding out for now in case he needs to transfer server. But said he wish he knew if tonberry if being moved to the new datacenter so he can go ahead and buy his house now haha
Like if they're shuffling some servers then tagging them earlier would make sense so people can pre-emptively migrate. But for new ones, we'd likely have to wait til they launch cause there wouldn't be servers to move to until they're live. Though, would be nice to be able to pre-register for a transfer so they can approve as much as possible ahead of time and let players complete the process at launch.
Pre-registers seem particularly relevant if they're 100% new data centers cause then they can get an idea on what the population would actually look like and they could build in incentives to get people to move across outside the normal new server transfer benefits.
I wanna know where are the datacenters located and if it really reduces my ping to sub 50ms. Else I wouldn't bother changing. Getting 70-80ms in Tonberry is fine with me at the moment.
I was on Odin when they announced they were shifting it to europe. Odin was bad enough with 250ms pings from AU, EU was close to 500ms. Knowing that would be impossible, I had to move. I had to start over there from almost nothing, lost the house, could only take 1 million gil. Too late they announced there would be considerations for those forced to move.
This time I hope they just move Tonberry and I can stay put, but at least I know not to move until I can take everything with me.
