Why isn’t the third party software ban enforced?

I could never hold my head up if I had to use one of those.

I would rather learn the fight myself and not have it handed to me....I feel this is cheating.

I think people should be banned for using them. And they should take action if they can see it on streams etc.

On the other hand you can tell I don't use it as in a new battle I lie on the floor a lot :P

Some external tools can be useful without impacting your gameplay.
Tools that helps improving yourself (and yourself only) in an indirect way are good.

What did you do wrong, how can you improve the situation? Those should exist in the game.

Tools that handholds you... Don't try to artificially improve your level, you'll jump make backward progress.
A quick story, thought, I was once in a discord and a player casually posted a video of themselves recording one of their fails. First, their add-ons were displaying so much informations.
Second it was obvious that the zoomhack was installed, they could see the whole map from above.

Today they're still playing and not banned.
SQEX can't ban them, a player would have to say "I'm using a cheating software" first.

I don't know about that dot things. I guess you are talking about the big visible square (depending how it set up) with a countdown to tell you when your dot is about to fall off.
I fail to understand how it's cheating or helping your rotation. It's only another way and more visibly way to track your own dot.
In WoW, Blizzard game, you can do that directly ig with macro I think? Is that cheating to add more visual effect to help you track something that is maybe tiny or you'll otherwise need to make the boss health bar to big just to track it? I think not.
Is that really unfair ? Definitly not.
Should they ban someone for using something like that because they like another way to track something you can already see yourself but better for they ? No.

About the next move of the boss. That really help a lot compare to someone not using it AND playing solo in pf without vocal. But it's not different from having a raid leader saying what's the next mech and what you have to do depending how the call is done. It's literally the same to me. It's not even up to date until next week after release or even later I guess since it's something that have to be added by people doing the fight first. If you are clearing raid week1 it's mostly useless, barely better than a post it on your screen.

It's helping a lot for new people doing it way later and don't even know what they are doing. That way it is "cheating" or simply skipping the learning part. You don't learn anything like that or recognize similar mech on later bosses when they happen but hey, whatever.


About why they don't do anything about it. Not even blizzard is doing it or anyone else.
Blizzard do it for fps games, not wow. Because it's a bot playing and you can detect it without having to scan the player pc.
Some chinese company have anticheat that scan before you even log in, and it often detect stuff that are false positive like program that can modify your ram but are pro program, not usually use to cheat. It's not working properly, they can't detect new program until they are aware of it, it's illegal in some countries.

I'm not sure which 3rd party software you're speaking of, but if it's Triggernometry for ACT (which is the only one I know of) then this is a significant exaggeration of what it actually does.

I guess with some jobs especially the cues could be nice. not needed in anyway but nice.. the issue being the amount of clutter on the ui at times.

Im far from the greatest player but i do occasionally find my shifu buff has fallen off because theres so much clutter on my buffs bar its not always quick to see. especially when its constantly changing places on the bar. like hey its the 3rd buff from the left. now its its the 7th buff from the left.. wtfff....... can result in players missing mechancis because that quarter second glimpse at the buff bar now becomes a 2 second glimpse at the buff bar trying to find where the hell that buff is. They could really do with splitting that bar in 2. my buffs and party wide.

similar thing with detrimental statuses they should have filters on so i can turn off ones i dont need to know about... the blm having thunder upon the boss, the pld having goring blade up, or the sch having bio on makes zero difference to my samurai. so turn those debuff icons off. however chain strategem or trick attack do so leave those ones turned on.

i'm not advocating the use of such third party tools but i can see why they would be of benefit just because of clunky ui elements.

Although if i've read the thread correctly these things can modify telegraphs so they appear sooner or even makes invisible telegraphs visible.. i want to say that sounds a bit far fetched but at the same time i wouldnt be surprised if thats exactly what these things did..

having a basic callout that just says hey this is happening i think mightbe acceptable as that in itself is really nodifferent from someone in discord saying "ok stack up" or whatever but i think if it's actually modifying the visual telegraphs or anything thats total cheating..

i almost wanna say can someone post a video showing how these things work but i'll pass on that as finding a source to such tings might further encourage there use.

There were/are people using third party programs to trivialize certain mechanics in both UWU and TEA as they're able to pick up on and identify exactly what the bosses are doing well before you'd normally be able to tell what's coming and how to position for it.

Unfortunately, there probably isn't any way for SE to actually detect this manner of cheating...assuming they even care.

There are certainly ones that let you see telegraphs that aren't there, but even something as innocuous as ACT triggers still give people more time to react/preposition, because the call that it does will issue before the mechanic's telegraph.

I remember my first time seeing it was in a video replay a SMN had done for Cruise Chaser Savage. The fight has a mechanic where it either does a massive AOE in the center, denoted by giant energy balls coming as the cast finishes, shiva-like exploding circles that rotate around the arena, and invisible circular AOEs that you have to bait, and then move from.

Their automated call would say the mech name and out, mech name and bait, or mech name and shiva. They would respond accordingly, well before the tell went out in game, for all of them except the baiting one, because that one inherently requires waiting. And guess which one they complained about, "Being annoying." The baiting one.

In Wow and basically any other MMO I've ever played so called 'addons' are a very important thing and tbh, I'd really like SE to open up more, mainly because... Well, look at the UI ^^

Imagine having Pitbull to build your own raid frames, or just weakauras for tiny CD beeps etc, or a way to see if you're playing your job right by like... Hmm, maybe your dps? Strange, I know!
Maybe a TRP-esque addon for the Role players too! I always enjoyed reading people's bios in WoW!

Addons are a godsend, especially with older Mmos and I think this one could profit greatly from em!

However, I do not condone anything that's against ToS, so until they greenlight these addons, ya shouldn't touch any!
