I think they said fall cause winter would sound so much further away. I also got anoyyed at them saying Fall and November in same sentense. As someone who live in northern part of Sweden we have plenty of snow in november so that's not fall for me at least lol
Yeah same, it snows in October here at the earliest so I was thinking September when they said fall.

They outright said as much during Fanfest; even making a joke about it technically being fall, just "late fall."
As for the topic itself. If we're going to be technical, Winter does not officially start until December 21st.
Meanwhile, snow more or less doesn't exist in most of Southern US. Hence why we don't base Winter on when snow falls because it's different depending where you are in the world.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
They said 'Fall' and November 23rd is still Fall. How much more honest did they need to be? They gave us the release date before accepting preorders so as far as I'm concerned that's as upfront about the release date as they need to be.

And in what country are the dev's who work on this game located?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Season
Meteorological temperate seasons
Northern hemisphere Southern hemisphere Start date End date
Winter Summer 1 December 28 February (29th if leap year)
Spring Autumn 1 March 31 May
Summer Winter 1 June 31 August
Autumn Spring 1 September 30 November
The Wikipedia literally says "As noted, a variety of dates and even exact times are used in different countries or regions to mark changes of the calendar seasons."And in what country are the dev's who work on this game located?

So it's different for everyone and using Japan's definition of seasons is misleading to players who have an earlier winter. I mean, did anyone actually think "December 20th" in their head when they announced Fall 2021?
Except it isn't just Japans. That is the astrological date for the start of fall. Being Astrological it applies to all countries in eth Northern Hemisphere including the US. Hell Winter term for schools typically don't start until December in the USThe Wikipedia literally says "As noted, a variety of dates and even exact times are used in different countries or regions to mark changes of the calendar seasons."

And in that country, and every state in that country, Fall ends in December. This is also true for every country in the EU, for the UK, for Canada, and for Australia (inverted to spring ending and summer starting but the date still stands). Thus every major market that FFXIV is in, it is correct to say that Fall ends in late december.
You know this, so you're arguing from a bad place.
