I leave it on HBAO+: Standard. All Quality does is eat 10% more GPU utilization for literally no benefit.
(Edit) Sorry, I saw yer previous post that I replied to and didn't realize you were the same person (I just got off work lol). Anyways, yes the function is there as you found but the shadows in this game are pretty basic, they use SSAO to kinda dress them up a bit to varying effect. I've noticed as you have, that in very direct light sources such as those in a house or other indoor place the self shadows tend to be a little iffy. Indirect sources, or ambient light seem to be a little more convincing. This game was (re)made to run on a potato from nearly 10 years ago, there's only so much window dressing that can be done I guess.

Don't touch me there
I'd be happy if the turning animations in the game were improved though I don't know if this could happen but I can't help but notice the characters and our mounts, especially during quest dialogue cutscenes, when turning, can be seen walking in their place instead of having a turning animation. Just thought it'd be nice if they could have a turning animation instead.![]()
1.0 had a glorious walking and run animation. Felt so solid to the ground. Miss that. . Don't miss the animation lock at the end but I miss watching it. However you don't need animation lock in order to have a pretty animation, as example by many other games that often have some variation of animation blending and animation canceling to ensure player experience.I'd be happy if the turning animations in the game were improved though I don't know if this could happen but I can't help but notice the characters and our mounts, especially during quest dialogue cutscenes, when turning, can be seen walking in their place instead of having a turning animation. Also was thinking but some better shaders and other weather related tools to increase the immersive / realistic vibe could be fun, when it rains it would be cool if we had rain puddles develop, volumetric fog and perhaps elements of that in clouds (think especially useful to make fog / mist kissed mountains :3), snow build up when it snows, snow trails when in snowy areas (like a small layer of deformation to show the snow has a thickness to it). Speaking of trails, many mounts don't have proper footprints- so that'd be nice (though pretty low on the list for myself lol).
Flora with physics (some games when you cast spells or walk through the field of reeds the plants respond). Saw someone mention water waves on the beach, that'd be nice indeed. Overall the water could use a pass so it has more water like properties (proper ripples, 3d movement, etc).
In any way the animations in the game being improved would be great.1.0 had a glorious walking and run animation. Felt so solid to the ground. Miss that. . I like all of those ideas. Would make the environment feel much more immersive.
I would also like some elements of interaction in the environment, like for example food that drops from the trees or grows on the ground that can be eaten for stats and exp boost.
I'd so love that, I noticed it in other newer MMOs lately, though I'd just be pleased if the foliage at least just shakes when the character walks through it.Flora with physics (some games when you cast spells or walk through the field of reeds the plants respond). Yeah, mentioned the stronger waves earlier, hope it's added some day.![]()
Heck, I could enjoy exploration in that game like very few others. The world and movement both felt wonderfully real. (Mor Dhona and Coerthas took the cake for me as favorite hiking areas.)
