They're perfect and they fit a niche that hasn't been fit yet. Male Miqo'te are small, sure, but on the bulkier side (Similar to Siberian cats, British shorthairs, Bengals, or Norwegian forest cats). Au Ra males are lean, but with a more hourglass shape with larger thigh muscles and broad shoulders. Lalafell have no s*xual dimorphism. Midlander males are thin, average, and have minimal dimorphism to the females. Highlanders are bulky, testosterone-chugger looking males with massive amounts of chunky muscle. Roegadyn males are barrel chested and have small hips in comparison to their bodies. And Hrothgars... are hrothgars.

From what we see in the video, male vieras are slim, possibly shorter than their female counterparts (which makes sense, bunnies irl are dimorphic with the females being larger than the males), and fit the niche of lean, smaller shoulders, and smaller thighs.

From this image, the male is on the left and the female on the right.

Interestingly I found quite a few papers on this, this is an interesting quote

Females are larger than males in more species of mammals than is generally supposed...The most common selective pressures favoring large size in female mammals are probably those associated with the fact that a big mother is often a better mother and those resulting from more intense competition among females for some resource

In species where the dad usually buggers off after a one-night-stand, there is a genetic advantage to have a taller (or chonkier) mom.

    Surpisingly not.

Most male lizards engage in territorial dominance plays, and tend to have bulkier heads and bodies than females as a result. Snakes *do* tend to have females that are larger than males (and as such, these females tend to eat their mates), however based off of the fact they have tails, Au Ra don't seem to be resembling snakes. Also, male bearded dragons are larger than females. (which I'd assume would be the closest resemblance? though Au Ra don't share much resemblance with any IRL Lizards i've seen, and share closer resemblance to crocodiles)

This! Also in species where males engage in dominance play, you'll find the males to be generally larger, with bigger heads and bulkier bodies.

I was really scared that if they ever release male Viera they would be extremely different from the females, kind of like male aura are much much bigger than the females but when I finally got to see them I was so happy because I feel like they managed to get a nice balance for the people wanting them smaller and those wanting them bigger.
They do seem to be smaller than females but taller than male kitty. Personally I would have loved if they looked like in the picture with broad shoulders (but not as extreme as male aura) but I'm just really happy we got them at all in the end. I just hope there will be options to make them look more masculine so that people can choose what style they want.

However I do feel sad for the people that didn't care for male bunnys and having them added means another expansion without new hairs/hats. Let's hope we get atleast a few maybe ^^

Which only adds to the well-established case that the "male" and "female" categories do not quite apply the Au Ra in quite the sense we are familiar. It may or may not be that they are reversed, or have mixed properties, but I tell myself that surely the wide-hipped creatures we call the men must be laying some gigantic eggs.

    >.<

    (Please let me have this.)

As for what we got, I'm extremely happy it exists. Not happy enough to fantasia --Pond's headcanon is too fixed--, and yeah, some muscle would have been nice, but I concede it's a niche that was lacking. Happy for everyone who'll make one!
