Yeah, I've been browsing twitter lately. I mentioned it before, but I always thought people were overreacting to requests like lyn or whatever. It's just an innocent request. But then I see on twitter all these disgusting mods and I'm kinda like... yeah, I guess I see where people are coming from.

agree, i see where people are coming from but i also must disagree with the statement that a smaller races like lyn from b&s and even lalafells from ff14 should not be considered as playable races - indeed some people overreact to requests like that. what i‘m opposed to is a race that literally imitates a child like riqi-tio.

lyn and lalafell for example (personal opinion) are way to off in their physique to count as actual children - even though they have certain aspects which are childlike, for example their emotes. they just are here to fill in the „cute small race“ niche and not something sinister like some people try to spin it.

Finished product? When they stated "everything we're showing you is a work in progress" at the start of fanfest? There's absolutely nothing finished about male Viera, nor any indication that edits will not be made until the race goes live.

Their overall design is clearly set in stone, otherwise they wouldn't have released a trailer. How much customization they may or may not have is up for debate though. Regardless, what we see now is what to expect as a baseline. We will know more later on this year.

That's a given, but height slider is not design, height slider is one of those things that go beyond the 3D art (creating them in Maya/Blender/3DS Max). Height slider is a feature, features are one of those things that go through a lot of iterations when it comes to development. Think of a mobile phone, when they're announced/shown to the world they have features which they go back and edit/modify until launch. Of course the base phone design is set in stone, but the features are not. Height slider is a feature they will most likely think about until the last second before they release the benchmark to the public. As such, there is nothing set in stone, that we're aware of officially as far as height and the height slider feature goes.

I think a race like lyn from blade and soul would be nice personally, but I know the devs are concerned about the negative perception that would bring due to inappropriate mods

My comments were directed to the child-like male viera, I actually had to look for this Lyn race, didn't this race cause a lot of censorship in their game? I would prefer censorship to stay away from ffXIV, once these ppl start covering stuff they don't know where to stop, next thing you see is that a 210cm femroe showing her ankles is too provocative.

And lalas are evil potato shaped overlords, hard to mistake them for children XD

well yeah as i said, weird people are everywhere and about lala, there was an incident with a discord channel some years ago because there were nsfw pictures of lalas shared and that discord channel got shut down! so yeah, races like lalafell and lyns from blade and soul will always be used in sinster places by very weird people, that doesn‘t mean people who play these races are sinister. yoshi p himself plays a female lala lmao

I think that was elins from tera online, not lyns. I always thought the smaller viera in the concept art kind of looked like lyns. If we did get the tiny hummingway esque vieras, I would have been fine with that, too. I like the idea of tiny little animal people. However, I'm extremely happy with the vieras we have now, and I expected them to look the way they do currently. I wouldn't want them to be changed now since they look amazing.
