I think a lot of players have this perception that male Midlanders are the "average joe" of the game. And while they do make up a good portion of the population, they are actually on the shorter end of the male race height chart. Female Viera would feel short in this chart, but they are definitely on the taller side in the female race height chart.

It's because Hyurs are humans and every other race is based on them, that's why ppl see Hyurs as the middle ground. On the chart you show it looks like Elezen are middle as well because we got 2 new tall races after ARR. Au ra and Hrothgar were just 2 new tall races, that doesnt make Elezen a new mid imo.
I looked at how races where created at the start while you look at the current height chart. If you take only ARR races, you'll see that hyurs are the middle: https://i.imgur.com/s6Eq7Qt.jpg
Your method works but doesnt take into account how all the races were created in the 1rst place and mine doesnt take into account how things evolved.

I mean, I personally would find it interesting and different, and I don't think it's fair to attribute ill intent to people like that. I used to think people who freak out over this are just pearl clutching, but after spending a little time on twitter now and seeing some gross mods, I kind of get it. I'm not normally on twitter myself, but I was so happy about the reveal trailer and wanted to see other people's reactions.

Yeah It's the same principle as where some chest pieces make breasts appear to be larger than what you picked in character creation, or the 2B pants give you a less flat booty, it just replaces what's there rather than adding to the actual character model.

One post, an illustration, had about 15,000 likes. I can't get too much into detail, but it was definitely NSFW. Basically, people in the thread were creating fantasies about how a male Viera would've stumbled into a female Viera village and would face "punishment". The illustration was basically copying that one meme of the tall girl holding up the short girl. Only in this case, it was a female Viera holding up a male Viera.

Leave it to the internet to make things weird, I guess.

Exactly! I need to stay off twitter. There's a lot of beautiful FFXIV fanart there, but also a good amount of weird stuff. And I apologize. I didn't mean to attribute ill intent to everyone. I do think there are those who have that intent, but not everyone does. I'm definitely aware of that.

Anyway, if you have those comparisons of male Viera and female Roegadyn that you mentioned earlier, I would like to see. Just out of curiosity.

Edit: Found the image I used finally. So from my previous image, it looked like the male viera was about 8 heads tall. So with that information, I did this:



When I look at the character height sheet, there doesn't seem to be a huge range in height save for female roegadyn. So I was really just eyeballing that range from 0%-100% which is why I didn't plan on posting it since it's really not that accurate lol

Edit #2: It looks like max height female viera also reaches up to female roegadyn's collar or somewhere around that.



If I were to take a guess, it looks like there's only going to be a few centimeters of difference in height.

Did they actually say anything about benchmark?
Because so far all benchmarks we had were released roughly 1.5 prior the expansion release. Unless they'll decide to drop 6.0 benchmark earlier, it would mean that this one should come in the beginning of October, which is almost 5 months away.

That's why sometimes I feel this whole "male bunnies should be shorter because that would be cool and interesting" is a substitute for "male bunnies should be shorter because I'm into that". And if that's the case, I feel like making male Viera shorter to fulfill this fantasy is really unfair.

A bit of overreach on your part to think this is the entire reason. But if you do want to overreach about size diference, please do make sure you include the extremity of the size difference in Au Ra when you are seeing perversion in everything.

I remain hoping that the slider allows both people who want smaller and people who want taller than the female 50% size. It will only be 20 or 30 cm difference from there anyway.

so many insecure males in this thread .... oh no I'm shorter then the female equivalent of a Amazonian bunny race do you get insecure when you see women taller then you in rl too? this is why they should have ignored you... sighs if anything we should shrink the au'ra males too they look stupid

I you have nothing valuable and on topic to say, please refrain from posting, or at least try to stay polite and not political, we are here here for feedback, information or theorycarfting, not sexism in one or another direction.

Somehow you give more credibility to the "Ill intentions" some posters commented about, yeah those from the twitter crowds, you even have a person in this thread asking for "shota"...
