I have seen this mechanic in other instances and raids; animation, colors, and visuals vary slightly but it does the same thing, pound you until you die
Before you assume it's unavoidable, have you considered that you have failed to identify the means to avoid it?

You only die in this game if a mechanic is done incorrectly. That can include: Not moving out of a ground-based aoe. Not splitting damage with someone else. Not hitting the 'don't die button' that pops up when you sit in a certain part of the ground. Not taking your tether to someone else when you're supposed to play hot potato. Taking something meant for a tank. Not hitting a cooldown when being hit with something meant for a tank while you're a tank. Healer failing to properly heal or mitigate. You not noticing a debuff that tells you what you need to do.

All of these can happen in Orbonne. Dying 'unavoidably' is actually a puzzle you have to solve. There is a reason, and you need to learn that reason, which means you avoid death the next time.

ALL deaths in FFXIV are avoidable.
