ffxiv directx error 1100002

[Trollerb]

This error started to occur after the 5.4-5.45 updates. I have been playing ffxiv on the same system since 2018 without this ever happening. I have tried everything from other similar threads except downclock my cpu/gpu cores

I've done the following:

1. - Redownloaded & Reinstalled XIV
2. - turned CPU/GPU/Memory overclock off and on.
3. - Limited the fps and Limited performance via Nvidia and FFXIV Client
4. - Displayed all overlays inc. Nvidia Experience
5. - Updated Graphics Card Drivers
6. - Changed to "Prefer maximum performance" via Nvidia
7. - Disabled Antivirus Software
8. - Run in Windows 7 Compatibility & Administrator
9. - Turned off one of my monitors
10. - Changed the setting in FFXIV.cfg
11. -Disable any additional programs that could cause interference with the game itself including chat programs. Also, remove any custom configurations made using graphics driver-level programs
12. -Remove any mods or injectors from the game or system
13. -Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
14. -Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)
15. -Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card
16. -Perform a clean boot

I'm facing the exact same issue and crash reason/number (DirectX 1100002) Similar to you, it would never occur before then. Now as of recent patches, it's happening extremely frequently in raids and dungeons at completely random intervals. Sometimes it won't even crash at all in spots I'd previously crashed at. It's really bizarre. There was another thread on here with others experiencing the same thing making me believe it's not on our end at all.

The higher the FPS and graphics settings the more often the error will occur. My computer is not a potato either. I have been playing max settings @144 FPS since 2018 when I built the machine. So, I actually managed to "fix" it (Touch wood, hasn't happened yet since I've done this.) by disabling my steam-overlay and the "fullscreen optimizations" on both .exe files in the FFXIV game folder. Yesterday it'd crash once randomly during a dungeon or raid, now that I've made those changes it hasn't happened once out of 5 dungeon runs. Really odd. I've never had them off before, so maybe an update to FFXIV botched something?

Ever since I've made these changes, not one crash in the dungeon I would always crash in, even after non-stop 10 runs. I'm still trying not to jinx it, but for some reason doing both of those where I disabled the steam-overlay and fullscreen optimizations for BOTH .exe files in the game folder has seemed to make a difference. They were never off to begin with, so it's quite odd as to why they're causing issues only after a patch.

The disabled full screen opt did not help me and I do not use steam. So far day 3 no crash after locking my overlock with EVGA precision 1, locking FPS to 72 in game settings, and setting graphics to standard. This is a shit bandaid since I have been playing on max for years, but it works. 10 pvp games, 5 alliance raids, and a hades farm party (got the mount btw) and no crashing. For my system this is the fix i7700k/270z/1080/32gb3200ram all OC

To the SE mod who is going to copy paste an answer here. Please tell people to attempt the fix I have when this problem comes up in the future <3

I don't know. I've given up on solving this and cancelled my sub. It basically happens no matter what I do. It's more common at higher settings and it happens at least once literally every single day. And based on how long this issue has been around with now concrete solution(and many not ever finding one) I'm guessing the root cause is something with the game.

Hi,
I just started playing and I would get this error quite often. Random times.

I tried the following
Latest drivers
Reinstall of Windows 10
Reinstall of FF14

None of which made any difference.

I was always running the game in borderless full screen in 1440p + max settings on my gsync monitor while I had the other monitor running for things like youtube and discord etc.


So I tried running the game in Full screen only and turning my second monitor off and so far 40 hours of gameplay without a crash.

I will continue monitoring and let you know if I get the error again. How many of you are also running a 2nd monitor while you play?

It happened 6 times in the course of an hour for me last night, making the game entirely unplayable. This has been happening to people since 5.0 launched and square hasn’t fixed it so I’m not holding my breath. I’ve been playing since the ARR beta and unsubbed.
