Question regarding servers

I think Oceania made sense to be dealt with first because players in that region are currently spread across two different regional data centre clusters which shows that community is very divided. Not saying SA don't need a data centre, they do, but at least they typically play in NA (from what I know at least) so they're not split into two large groups like Oceania is right now.

If anyone is next on the list for data centre improvement and/or addition it's obviously going to be the Americas. NA isn't covered as well as it could be and if it gets an east coast data centre then SA will benefit from it too.

I would like if SA got their own data centre, not just because it would obviously be great for them, but it would be closer to southern Africa than any of the other data centres. I know quite a few South African players and the ping they deal with is pretty bad. Not unplayable but definitely not ideal.

Mmm, sad that Jo'burg is 400ms from Sydney, so close to Australia to Europe times... so I hope that continent is better served too one day

it would "fix" the high latency not only for Canadians or South American players, but to those on US that lives in the East Coast, when they moved the servers from Montreal to Sacramento, half of my previous FC complained a lot and all of them live (or lived) in East Coast

I can certainly see how the latency jumping up to about 60ms upset them! It's going to be nice experiencing the game at less than 300ish ms when the new Australian DC comes!

It would be great if our new OC datacentre is the first of a few including East Coast USA, more DCs is strong proof the game is very healthy. SE wouldn't be investing the two million mentioned otherwise.

So.... go back to the problem they used to have for players living in Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Vancouver, Alaska, Hawaii.... anywhere else west? The move to Sacramento wasn't ideal, but you're asking to have one problem exchanged for another, and moving the server to the east coast of the US under the guise of "it'll help South America!" isn't good for the players. There are likely more players in California in this game than in Argentina. A server, however, in a place Illinois or Minnesota would be a better compromise... but even then I played for years from California with ping to the east coast and still managed to do the savage content, so...

I wrote it when this topic was only one page. They could place the server in Texas for example, it will be on "middle" for everyone (I'm not that good in US Geography since I didn't studied this).
It's great that you did Savage while living in Cali and the servers were in Montreal. I'm a casual but even being casual when I do some content I have to keep jumping after dodging an atk to make the server read my exact location and not the previous one.

As someone playing from EU, that was a fun...experience.

A US east coast server would be nice. I'd have better ping. It would be a nice compromise overall.

I wonder if they could give players a window in which t transfer characters for free to the new data center.
If memory serves me , they did it when EU data center moved physically to Europe.
