It's also gotta consider now just how many people speak a language, but how popular gaming is in countries that speak that language and how popular this style of game is in those countries. Based off what numbers I can find, video gaming in parts of the Americas that aren't the US or Canada are primarily centered in Mexico and Brazil. That's not to say there aren't gamers in the other countries, but that in the other countries there just isn't the same size of a market as in other countries. Mexico wouldn't likely benefit from a South American data center as they'd be closer to the centered located in the United States (though having Spanish language support would be good) leaving basically a data center for just Brazil.
If there are enough players in Brazil to support one, I'd absolutely petition Square the same way Australia did to try to get a data center located closer to you, and try as well to get Portugese language support.
Numbers I'm going off of:
https://www.statista.com/statistics/...20the%20region.

If there is another location with a significant amount of players I expect it will be considered. They will have a better sense of who is the greatest priority based on statistics.
When making a new data center, they most likely have to ask if there are even enough people from that region to fit on several servers.
Making a new DC requires money, infrastructure and employers for that.
Although there's a chance of being outsourced like they did with China for political reasons, which means being separated from the others DCs and delayed patch.
Translators requires money and there's a lot to translate, if they're going to translate they had to hire employers to do support for that language, more money.
From a company that likes to make money it's a hard job.

From what I understand, the Oceanic server is the result of a consistent and vocal large player base who had organized themselves and had been making themselves known for years. They basically proved that a data centre there would not be a wasted expense. Not saying that a South American data centre would be a wasted expense, but it needs to be apparent to SE that that's not going to be the case. They basically need to see the proof it will be worthwhile. I'm sure they'll also need to see the Oceanic server pay off now as well given that if they don't see the results there I doubt they'll do it again elsewhere.
You guys are missing the point. i really dont care if the game is written ancient greek, i care about ping, ms, response time, i want to enjoy the game at its fullest, so if a server in SA or Brazil is inviable a server in NA East would help immensely
Then you're asking for the impossible.
Not sure why you are negative. It costs nothing to say "good luck"and it's not like a new server farm in say Florida wouldn't benefit the USA too.
Numbers of paying customers talk. If they can gather many thousands of paying customers in Brazil like we do in Australia, they can also hope for a datacentre.
