    It's not about the stats, it's about the system – and the glamour dresser is clearly designed to apply glamours in a way that is compatible with the original prism method. Whether you apply the glamour directly with a prism or through the dresser, the end result is the same: data attached to the gear piece itself indicating what it should look like. It's this data that the system looks at when deciding if the glamour can be displayed or not, so it's beyond the scope of what the dresser does.

    The dresser indeed "doesn't need stats" which is why gear gets stripped of extra data like materia and gear condition. But that doesn't have anything to do with the system judging whether it is compatible.
