    [request] what happened to mob behavior ecosystem?

    I'm pretty sure I saw a video or read an interview with the old team ranting about how there were plans to make an ecosystem of sorts in which mobs attacked each other on their own.

    I really liked this idea! It'd make the world a lot more lively. Even more if you could take advantage of this like on FFXIII.

    I think it'd be also good if it wasn't plain mob fighting, but if some mobs ran away from the aggressive ones or turned around to team up with their kindred if they'd run into more of them. It'd make mobs do something other than just stand there waiting to get slain!

    Please hit like if you'd still like to see this implemented.

    Along with that I'd like to annex I'd also like to see mob AI back into the game. The previous form was awful... like, the goats would follow you and it'd be really annoying if you wanted to fight. But the concept was smart. It would have worked if the goats would have fled in fear when turning into battle mode!

    Stuff like this I'd like to see.

    the "flee when turning into battle mode" would have solved the problem, great suggestion. Its the details that make this world alive. The special mob-ecosystem would be great! i would love to see it, i liked it in ffxiii as well.

    I remember it also, but I think that was something the original producer (Tanaka?) wanted.

    One of the only things I liked about Rift is even normal monsters that'd aggro had a sense of "home pride", in that if they saw you fighting an invader, they'd team with you to kill the invaders (even humanoid enemies would help with invaders). Aion also had certain mobs fighting eachother in a natural manner.

    It's been swallowed by the cries of "but that's pointless!" from the vocal part of the forum crowd. Same reason why the animal curiosity AI was removed. Too much whining from people who didn't want to pay attention to their surroundings.

    honestly i blame SE more for this. If you listen to every crap you destroy your game easily.
    It was like the mob/spell increase. It was a CHEAP way trying to have the crowds shut up for a bit.

    And if a system is a bit annoying, you could just think about it and change it in a smart way. But AI is a weak spot in most games, not only mmos. So i think they decided to just leave it out... even though we wouldnt even need a great AI... a bit more then utter stupidity would suffice

    Should bring this back, and mobs following, and mobs running away.

    Man the life is so dull in the game all NPC's are so robotic.

    I miss the curiosity AI that monsters had... I remember aldegoats used to randomly follow you around and such. Only thing I hated was that absolutely every mob had a ranged attack that HURTS.

    They also need to make it where, at least when your fighting, you can't run through the mob.
