[dev9143] Solution to Overcrowding (Use in 2.0)

    Hey everyone check this out:
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post661109

Aight Mr. Yoshi here's your answer.

Do what GuildWars/Aion do. Have ONE big server, or a few smaller ones but have zone "instances" for towns.

For example in guildwars, Temple of Ages (popular entrance to dungeons) you have sometimes 1 district if very few people are on, but on the weekends or prime time you have upto 15-17 districts.

You can search party across multiple districts, invite and travel between to meet up.

Really this is the best solution.

If the solution you're thinking of involves putting a zone counter limit on connected people as it is now; than 2.0 will not support the population you're hoping to get

Please do this if at all possible. Aion is a bit different in that the actual outdoors has districts as well if it gets too full; all mobs on separate spawn timers. So if a outside area is full for experience parties, you can switch to another instance and level.

It's designed so you can always find someone in/out of dungeons and do things with.

Just my 2 cents on the matter

The proper solution would be to provide enough systems for people to stop clogging up uldah - like the stuff they add in 1.22

Now if people stopped abusing shouts for party making and started using the perfectly functional party search interface, the would be no reason to concentrate in one city.

edit: to clarify, I am talking about the "Search" menu, not the "Party -> Search" one. They should have removed the old one imho.

    No.

Guild Wars is hardly even an MMO to begin with, it's instanced to hell and back. I'm fine with dungeons/endgame content being instanced, but channels are a horrible way to go about it. FFXI had no overcrowded problem with Jueno/Whitegate. They just need to offer more in other cities, or make certain cities (Ishgard/Ul'dah) larger.

Channels is not the way this game needs to be headed.

Just a note Ice, Guildwars 2 is no longer like this, so why go to a system like another game, when their successor game scraps? XD Seems a bit silly.

Guildwars 2 is kind of 1 big server, you can hop between servers quite freely, the Auction House is 1 server that all share and well they designed their game decent, they designed their servers decent, that is the only issue with XIV now, is it is not those 2 things, until 2.0 when it will be (As stated by the documents).

No solution needed when 1 is in place, its called 2.0 lolz
