Yeah, i'm fairly peeved about this. I have got every CE since the start. Being in America, i looked for the pre-order and nothing came so it then became available overnight while i slept and woke up to it being sold out. Here's hope i can get another shot at it.

Yep, sucks. Finally get an option that doesn't leave out Steam users but then their store isn't accessible and it's so limited it sells out even before the first day of Fan Fest is over.

What irks me is they didn't even announce the pre-order on the actual stream but randomly turned them on afterwards. I don't see any reason to make them so limited.

Yep, I went looking for them during the keynote and opening ceremony and there was nothing yet. They didn't have anything saying when they would be available and then like you said, they just randomly turned them on.

There is zero reason to do this. Maybe Japanese consumers accept it more but they have a lot of consumers outside of Japan and this limited run stuff doesn't hold up out here.

I don't know what time exactly it went on sale on the store, but I was checking periodically during the keynote and got an e-mail at 12:40am EDT letting me know Endwalker was available to pre-order, and it was sold out by 1:08am EDT when I was able to get into the SE online store. I've purchased every physical CE since 3.0, and I'd like to buy this one too. I'm hopeful they'll just create a pre-order wait-list for physical items and make as many as they have the demand for; it's obviously very high. I appreciate that there was probably some blindsiding by the demand, but there're still six and a half months left until launch. I just really, really, hope they don't let garbage like this remain the only route for people who still want to buy it.

I feel it really should have been made more clear during the announcement of the Collector's Edition boxes in the keynote exactly when they would be up for preorder. I was watching it closely, and I didn't catch that particular bit, myself (though seeing it typed out like that... I feel like I probably should have). I suspected that the fact that Yoshi was talking about it and unveiling everything and so on meant that preorders were imminent, but I was expecting some kind of info splash screen with dates and times of when preorders would be live, not a somewhat subtle verbal-cue-only from Yoshi in the middle of talking about physical items. I also went to the store and tried to refresh after the reveal (initially it was not loading any product data at all, only headers, so I suspect lots of people were doing this and semi-crashed it) and checked back again periodically after that until it was up - but I was lucky that I thought to do this and that I was still awake and otherwise unoccupied to do so. This happened in a weird time window for a lot of the world, so for preorders to drop with no notice... I'm sure a lot of people got locked out through no real fault of their own, but rather that this happened when they were sleeping/working/etc.

People have mentioned in this thread getting an email announcement after it was already sold out. I've gotten no email from them about this at all, even still. I've been subbed since open beta and bought every previous physical CE, so the longevity of a customer and their purchase history theoretically indicating their willingness to make this purchase seems to have no bearing on how soon they notify any particular party. Their system seems very haphazard, at best.

I hope/expect they'll restock it so that people who want the CE box and didn't get it this time will have another shot at it, and hopefully they'll do better about announcing when that will happen beforehand or immediately emailing all waitlisted parties when it does happen so that everyone has a more fair shot.

I know I'd have been very angry if I woke up this morning and found that CE box preorders had been opened and sold out in a matter of hours while I was asleep and none the wiser, so my heart goes out to everyone that missed it on this round.

I watched the stream but didn't see they were going on sale. If its a pre order shouldn't they make as many that get ordered it doesn't even come out for 6 months? Will there be more that are sold? I seem to miss out a lot on getting a collectors edition the only one I was able to get was Heavensward.

Imagine not knowing they'd be doing that and, y'know, sleeping or something, only to wake up and find they were already sold out.
