    Loppurets: Their purpose

So, a new tribe was introduced. The Loppurets. Basically, a whole tribe of Namingways! They look like Ivalice moogles, but without the wings and pompom. Guess the playable moogle dream is over... sigh.

Anyway, I digress. It was mentioned that they'd have an important role to play in the story. What do you suppose that is? My theory is that they are keepers and workers on the moon. That Labyrinth place their home.

Perhaps they're there to help with Zodiark stuff? Who knows... What do you guys think?

I'm also guessing they'll be caretakers left behind by Amaurotines to take care of that palace we saw on the moon zone.

Didn't the Moogles have a legend about how there was a terrible clash between the gods in the heavens, and they rapelled down a rope to the ground, in Eorzea? Maybe the Loporitts are the ancestors of the Moogles, those who remained in the heavens/on the moon? The Loppurets seem very similar to the Ivalician Moogle, Hurdy, from FFTA2.

That was just an ancestral memory of the transporter between the Churning Mists and Halo in Mourn in the Dravanian Forelands - a quest in Moghome back in HW outright confirmed the ancestral link between Moghome and the moogles on the surface (it also confirmed the origin of Good King Moggle Mog the XIIth as the name of Moghome's original chieftain who activated said transporter to allow the moogles to escape to the surface from, what is presumedly, Nidhogg's rampage against Thordan's murder of Rattoskr).

Either way, that legend's origin is already explained and is far more recent.

That would be an interesting addition! If I recall correctly, one of the moogle side quests mention that the Moogles of Gridania are descendants of moogles who left the churning mists, but who's to say that that was where the tale began? Would be quite the plot twist XD

Dang I wish they were playable T_T Ah well... I can dream haha

They look exactly like the Hummingways from Final fantasy IV DS?

Does make me wonder to be honest. When ffxii was being made, did they look to the hummingways as inspiration for the ivalice moogles?

Ivalice Moogles originally came from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, XII Moogles are mostly an evolution from there.
When FFIV DS was made Hummingways were redesigned to look more like rabbits (This game came after TA and XII) so maybe it's the other way around and Ivalice Moogles influenced their redesign.
However, like many things in Endwalker I do believe they're just referencing things from FFIV directly and have no link to current moogles, but hey, who knows?

Plot twist: they're the common ancestor of Lalafell and Viera.
