I realized this makes a lot of sense. Who knows, maybe the "avatar" might just be us, but the thirteenth shard of us. The voidsents are all from the Void (13th shard that fell to darkness due to the imbalance by ascian machinations) and technically is part of the source with their aetheric composition tipped to darkness and subsequently had their forms warped to look entirely different like how the light-aspected sin eaters looked in the First.
Our character is sorta associated to death - (we killed a ton of things from ARR to ShB that enemies could very well associate us as a God of Death a.k.a. Reaper at this point). With our soul mostly complete, we can probably handle another essence in our bodies even if the form was warped and tipped towards an aetheric element (which would be the avatar). Maybe the reason why he can't comment on whether we get possessed by the reaper is because fundamentally it's just another part of us similar to how Ardbert is. With the way how souls stagnate upon being exposed to huge aetheric elements , our soul joining to theirs might just awaken their sense of purpose instead of acting on instinct, but ultimately their form is permanently warped and aetherically tipped to darkness. In that sense, we would be fighting 'alongside' each other, where our skills are just aetherically charged to the void.
OH. I just remembered, as we know, there is a certain sidequest that talks about trying to restore the thirteenth shard back to normal like how it was done in the Empty. Perhaps the Reaper storyline will touch upon this aspect too? I dunno, but this speculation thought is getting me hyped.
