I wouldn't be surprised if you can end the transformation early, so if a boss phase shifts and you can't continue attacking, save your ressources by turning it off.

From a practical viewpoint, there's really no choice unless a gauge has overflow. When you cap, you have to use it.
It is correct that as worded, there is no flexibility, but it shouldn't take them long for their combat testing to realize inflexibility oh both sides of the encounter will lead to frequent frustration.

Isn't that how builder-spender jobs work in a nutshell? You can be reductionist about anything. At the end of the day, the one and only question that defines your performance on melee is how well you can stay on the boss while you play DDR/chicken with mechanics. Everything else becomes muscle memory.
This is more of an aesthetic thing, but it would be nice if they could register some of those multihit attacks as individually separate hits, rather than seeing your character swing three times with a single number popping up. That 'Phantom Flurry' damage style would feel really good especially if it was coupled with lots of oGCDs.
How is it like living shadow though?Like I said earlier this thing is almost exactly like Living Shadow from Dark Knight:
Conjure a simulacrum of your darkside to fight alongside you.
Simulacrum Attack Potency: 300
Duration: 24s
Blood Gauge Cost: 50
OGCD attack tied to a pump-and-dump job gauge. It can almost be guaranteed that Reaper will have a similar set up for its voidsent. The class is a DPS specced Dark Knight with some different animations, an extra combo and a few gimmicks like its version of Delirium gives the character's outfit a new temporary skin.
That shadow persists for a longer duration, while you can clearly see that the void avatar for Reaper only performs 1 attack and then disappears again. It doesn't actually persist at all after that.
Think you have to take a look at that Reaper video again.
Of course we don't know much of the job, but that's based on what we can see so far at least.

It is an OGCD attack animation designed to look like a pet tied to a pump-and-dump job gauge. The fact that the void avatar is designed to be fired more often in short bursts since it is a DPS class as opposed to Dark Knight's Living Shadow doesn't change the fact that it is the same basic concept. Just the same way after Reaper merged with its voidsent they performed the same attack three times in a row tells you it is a variant of Delirium / Inner Release. How is it like living shadow though?

Considering the fact this is not the job actions trailer and is the REVEAL trailer and dont know much about how it plays, thats bold of you to say its a variant of Inner release. It is an OGCD attack animation designed to look like a pet tied to a pump-and-dump job gauge. Oh, you mean like the Dancer reveal trailer ? Yeah, you didn't get to see the AoE attacks but you got a pretty good look at its single-target toolkit.
Or how about the Red Mage one? You could tell exactly how that class would perform in a boss fight from that trailer.
Samurai reveal trailer? Same thing, real good look at the class's single target abilities and AoE toolkit is absent.
If these three previous DPS reveal trailers are any indication you have already seen the bulk of Reaper's single target toolkit. The only thing you haven't seen is any party support abilities it might have and its AoE toolkit.

I cant comment on the other since I havent looked at them but the RDM video absolutely does not show everything it has to offer. Not even close. Hell, just off the top of my head, the RDM jumps into melee range and then only uses a SINGLE melee attack before jumping back out and casting verflare/holy.Oh, you mean like the Dancer reveal trailer ? By your logic, we can assume that RDM"s melee combo is only a single melee attack. Is that what you think we should be doing for reaper?

I mean this is 6 months prior to release and we haven't seen even half it's toolkit more than likely let's wait until the job action trailer before we start declaring it's complete gameplay functionality
Yep, like the rdm teaser vid we got. I'm hoping there's more to reaper than just filling up the bar. Sorta like rdm vs smn imo. I enjoy both jobs but appreciate that smn is a bit more complex.
