They just got Reaper from GW2 and put it into FFXIV? Good. Reaper is one of my favourite specs from GW2. I'm interested to see how the channel phase will work in game.

I'm hyped as hell but the trailer didn't show much. 3 basic green combo hits (and it wasn't even a 3 hit combo, it was 1-2 a few times and then a random 1-off but it definitely wasn't the same as the other 2 hits). The voidsent popped up to do the same attack twice and it looked like an ogcd based on how it was clipped by a gcd attack the second time they used it. A self-buff that changed their appearance and let them spam an attack.
So then, from what was shown, I am going to guess that Reaper will fill a bar. Once the bar fills, they can trigger beastmode which will change their basic attacks up a bit for the duration. That would make it different from the other melee dps while also being vaguely similar to dragoon (build eyes to get into nastrond phase) so that sets up a niche for the maiming archetype. I also think this mode will get a deathflare/confiteor style ender.
Alternately, beastmode just lets you spam that 1 attack like fell cleave or bloodspiller and I will nope out of this boring job.
I think this also means they will have a relatively simple combo flow, because doubling up on animation work is hard. Like, 1-2-3-4-5 or maybe 1-2-3 then 1-4-5. Or maybe 1-2-3, 1-2-4, 1-2-5. Along these lines I think the voidsent is going to fill the same role as jumps do for the drg, so we'll get like 4 or 5 sorta low cd ogcd's to spam, since lots of ogcd's is kind of drg's thing (and it has to be because their gcd is so slow). I also do not expect reaper to get a speed increasse.
I will guess they get 2 positionals. I will also guess they get 2 dots, 1 long duration and 1 short. With the long being it's own gcd and the short being a the combo ender that compels you to alternate combo's.

I think they stated in one of the earlier reveals that is a "slow" atack kind of job. For what i have seen looks like is gonna be Dragoon 2.0 with voidsents instead of dragon related stuff. Heck the red mode already makes me remember the Dragoon burst phase.I'm hyped as hell but the trailer didn't show much. 3 basic green combo hits (and it wasn't even a 3 hit combo, it was 1-2 a few times and then a random 1-off but it definitely wasn't the same as the other 2 hits). Fingers crossed they make a fun, dynamic gameplay and dont just copy paste Dragoon mechanics with different animations

That pet and forced black robes during burst kinda feels like they were out of ideas and made the most generic and boring things possible. Lets hope gameplay itself is fun.

It is not even a real pet but an off-global-cooldown attack like DRK's Living Shadow that you fire off when charged and then pretty much forget about until it recharges. You can tell because they clipped a global-cooldown attack one of the times they used it. Probably has the same fill the bar and then wait a minute or two after use to do it again implementation as Living Shadow does.

The forced black robe kind of makes it feel like it should wear striking or scouting gear to begin with honestly. This doesn't look like a job that is supposed to wear heavy armor.

This is the DRK from XI I wanted (dps wise). So I'm all in on Reaper! Also, 3 letter job name? RPR? Or REP?
Drk main from ffxi as well here so I’m all in on Reaper.
I am one of those people that despises positional attacks and wants them scrapped entirely. It’s why my chosen melee dps is nin. Since I spend most of my time sitting behind the enemy I only need to move occasionally for armor crush and don’t have to worry about a positional attack most of the time.
For Reaper my dream setup is absolutely no positional attacks at all, ever, for as long as the job exists. But if it must have them, no more than 1-2.

It actually wouldnt surprise me if there was some positional skills with Reaper (kind of like how sam has them for genki gauge increase + potency)Drk main from ffxi as well here so I’m all in on Reaper.

Considering that all melee jobs have some degree of positionals the strange would be for Reaper to have none. Probably will have a similar ammount as Dragoon, but could also have less ofc, certainly not the ammount as monk unless they want to troll people (and would find it ironic and amusing the reactions to see xD)
