Duty Finder seems broken on my wife's account

My wife has been going through the Stormblood raids, alliance raids, and auspice trials this week before she finally starts Shadowbringers. She has the Shadowbringers first quest unlocked but she wants to finish the Stormblood optional content first.

All week, she has been queuing for an alliance raid, a normal raid, and an Auspice dungeon/trial at the same time hoping to quicken queues as multiple things are selected. She did the same for The Great Hunt when she started Stormblood optional content but that was the first thing that popped for her. This was last week, before the situation that I am describing started.

Her current: Hell's Kier, Ridorana Lighthouse, and Sigmascape 3.0

All week, every time that she queues, she is being told "less than five minutes" but always tapers up to "more than 30 minutes" and she waits an average of 50 minutes for a pop. It has done this on every single one.

In fact, she currently queued and has waited 30+ minutes already as I create this post when she was told "less than five minutes" In fact, it has done this three times in a row just today. Sigmascape 1.0 and 2.0 both said less than five when queuing for those two along with the trial and alliance raid and she wound up waiting close to an hour for both.

I informed her about the Fan Fest Moogle event but after further research, I found that only Deltascape raids are in the event, she is on Sigmascape. She is currently holding off on the second alliance raid until the event as a result.


Now I understand wait times are not accurate but for this to be happening to my wife every time she queues for something since Sunday. I feel that there is a bigger problem at stake here. Almost if the average is not being updated at all or anything.

I can see this happening maybe once or twice during an entire week with how often she is queuing, but every single queue for a week is very unusual.

She is not making a big deal of it or anything, I just want her to catch up so we can do current content.

I've noticed this recently too. Instead of starting from a high wait time, it's starts at 5 or 10 minutes or something, slowly increasing every time I pass a threshold.

This has always been an issue to some extent, but it's been happening WAY more than usual in the last few days.

I vaguely remember someone on here saying that solo queues can play a part, in the sense that groups are prioritized over solo queues. I really don't remember the exacts on it so anyone is free to correct me because I could be completely wrong.

It prioritizes people it can fit into a party. So if there's a party of 7 in queue first, the next is a group of 3, then 5, then 4, then 2. It's going to match the 3 and 5 together first, because those fit together.


As for queue timers, it may had a set amount of time it can check against for queue times. If say, it's been more than an hour since someone last queued for that duty, it may reset to 5 min default. And then tick up from there, as you are now the "average" queue time.

You also need to factor into time of day of the queues as to how long things should take.

If you are on a NA server it's likely that many players are at work or school depending on the age at the time of the queue. Meaning the pool of possible people to queue is low.

This is compounded by the fact that she wasn't queuing for anything required. Not everyone does optional content, so reduces the pool further.

The alliance raid queue is compounded by the fact that people lower their ilvl when entering alliance raid roulette in an attempt to get a Crystal Tower raid, meaning the higher level alliances have a lower chance of popping than one would expect. This has probably been compounded by the Crystal Tower raids now being mandatory for the MSQ meaning players who would normally not touch the alliance raids are doing just the Crystal Tower ones and then not getting the next set started.

You've also not mentioned what class she is and if she's a DPS, that would also increase her average queue time due to more players playing DPS than tank or healer.

If you're on a NA server, I recommend queuing when it is evening for NA.

If she plays a DPS and doesn't have or feel comfortable with playing a tank or healer in the content and you do, you could queue with her to reduce the queue times.

She could also set up a Party Finder for it and find a party and then queue for it. Useful for the raids.

Has she tried only queuing for the dungeon? It sounds like it's showing the estimated time for the dungeon at first, but then relocating her into the normal raid queue where it becomes an hour.
