Pick a retainer's name from the item search counter. Without marking it's item, go into the ward and try to find that retainer. Let us no how long it takes to get that retainer to load up on your screen.I'd like to respond to this with a rebuttal that is often used against myself
"This is not FFXI"
Just because there were issues with this type of content in 2002, doesn't mean that those ideas and concepts can't be improved upon in 2012. It seems whenever anyone negatively compares XI to XIV, they mention time sinks and game limitation, as opposed to the types of content XI provided. Just because they had issues before, doesn't mean similar types of content can't be implemented with improvements
The current engine can't even load a room full of static NPCs standing still and staring into space. How is it supposed to show a large scale battle full of ability animations and players and NPCs running around?
This is why they're redesigning everything from the ground up.
Actually, no, let me just being up behest right now. There were 15 people in behest before. There were also more than 20 chars on a screen at once back then, they could have worked with it........
SE has already covered this- the current system doesn't really allow for big open-world battles with lots of players and monsters.
well have you played the events last weeks? with about 20-40 garleans at the same time and other 30 players? seems not..
uuuh.. wait and it hasnt been instanced... you can see more people at one time . but it was a little laggy, yeah.
- Currently, the game is Balanced with 8 men per party (changing it would take even more Balancing, and at this point being this close to 2.0 not even worth the Change)
- If they were to change it to Non-instanced you know how much trouble it would be to go into those areas that are overly populated +NPC + Monsters? The Server will probably crash 10 fold...
So really the only thing I can say to you is.. Have fun.. tolerate it.. in 2.0 I'm sure something will make you happy Rokien =).
HURP DURP they did it with the little event... so don't even try. Also with multipule hamelets people would be spread out.- Currently, the game is Balanced with 8 men per party (changing it would take even more Balancing, and at this point being this close to 2.0 not even worth the Change)

It was just an "open world instance."
The server prioritized 15 players and the mobs only they could attack. Not all of which spawned at the beginning of Behest.
Behest had 15 (eventually eight) players and about 10 to 15 mobs.
That's still not "massive battle" , and 15 man parties were taken away for a reason. They already did with 15 man stuff before yoshi took it away.
It was laggy (due to server issues), messy, and not a lot of fun. "massive battles to me is more on the order of besieged where there could be dozens to hundreds of people participating and lots of enemies. The current system is NOT capable of this.
