I never said that they take no inspiration. I said that there are things in the game other things are adapted from, but it shouldn't be completed expected to conform to the material it came from.

You're saying that instead of the obvious myth that the creature comes from, the inspiration behind their asexual-ness was a sudden philanthropist drive by Square Enix (multimillion videogame company) to pick a side in 2020 gender politics.
Occam's razor says it's just abiding to the myth, until I hear the writer make a statement that says otherwise.

This isn't directed to you specifically, but essentially the discussion here boils down to one side retroactively assigning new meaning to old words and concepts, and trying to strongarm others into subscribing to their worldview, and the other side responding with "Stop harassing the developers, please".

I mean, Yoshi-P himself had to make an official statement on these forums telling people to stop asking for "childlike male viera", and right under fanfest, like clockwork, here we go again with the same bs that is going to be echoed by the usual suspects like Kotaku and RPS. It's not by chance that these threads happen right around this period.

I'm saying that if someone wants to believe that, it doesn't matter. Unless you yourself are fairy, I don't get why you care so much about what other people think about something that isn't related to you.

I personally think having a system to choose a pronoun separate from the sex of your character is a waste of time, even in a brand new game, purely for the logistical reasons that people have already mentioned. It's really not worth a lot of the effort considering the few amount of people who would take advantage of it. It's obvious that they're never going to add this, but I'm not sure the topic deserves the level of vitrol or conspiracy theories.

Literally no one asked you to jump in this thread. If you didn't see it or didn't get involved, you'd probably be much happier and keep hitting dragons with swords. If people learned that that they can ignore threads that don't personally affect them, the forums and internet in general would be a better place.
