Yes? You can’t expect every single person or company in the world to conform. But even barring that it costs time and money to implement that. It’s not about waking up. Are you willing to donate the hundreds of thousands requires to make that change for the game? Didnt think so.

If you'd stop trying to apply logic to things and start waking up, then you'd notice how ridiculous what you're saying sounds. I mean, it's 2021!

I can see folks using this to be rude and mock the community somehow, and I play this game to get away from that sort of stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I can totally see why you'd want this, absolutely. But I just don't think it's necessary?

Protip: You are not your character.
Your character can be cis, even if you or not.
Your character can be the opposite of your birth gender.
Your character can have transitioned completely, to the point that even mages and chiurgeons cannot tell their original gender.
Your character can have yet to realize they are trans or genderfluid.
Your character can fully transition with the free fantasia at level 50.

Admittedly, the support for being genderfluid is limited. But then ... NPCs are never going to discuss your gender and sexuality with you; they're way more about you killing dragons and stuff. Just ignore any pronouns or gendered terms. Or stop and type out corrections to them, whatever.
If you really, really want to do this, I'd suggest using glamour sets - making some obviously feminine, some obviously masculine, and some relatively gender-neutral. And meeting people for RP that will react accordingly.

That would be a lot of time, money and man power reworking an already messy code for such a small group. Contrary to popular belief even in the lgbtq community this isn't really as big of a thing as some would have you believe and is just as exhausting sometimes as it is to those not within the community. Its just a very small, usually very young, group that really makes a fuss about pronouns or gendered language. And while it is not a big deal for a new game that could possibly incorporate it into the code a lot easier, not everything can be altered, after the fact, for the handful of ppl whose entire identity revolves around how they are addressed.

If they would want to add it as an option, I would have no issues. But it is way to potentially big and we would most definitely lose content over it, which imo is way more important.
