Is it just me?

It seems to me there is little or no chatter among linkshell's i've joined...
I don't get it... Call me old fashioned XI but when i joined a linkshell i stuck with it and I answered questions and ask people about there day.... I'm not sure if its the new linkshell system that is keeping people under lurk mode but wtf 20+ members online and no one speaks?
Anyone else get this? Or have a shell that is active, won't consume my soul and is friendly enough to say hello?

didnt you know its in the terms and conditions set up by SE they clearly state any and all ls chat for at least 30 of each ls's members will be limited to hiding until you see somone say something of which you need/want/participate in ie AV CC Ifrit etc.. or asking a question for people to join said event. 10 members must only talk rubbish and troll all day, the rest must make conversation in another linkshell when they see any conversation.

but yes i know what u mean some shells use vent/ts and chat in them quite a bit, the shells i have are reasonably chatty to very chatty depends on what time of the day it is

I don't know what it is... but yeah disappointed in the few i've joined. Sorry to anyone I may offend, but if you create a shell and never have it equipped or give your input on anything.. makes me wonder why you would create such a thing.. maybe this is the micromanagement ffxiv style...

My linkshell has certain periods where people chatter, we also use mumble and several members chat on that instead of typing. Maybe your linkshell has voice too.

My linkshell usually has chatter when people are on and its not always game chatter. Its chatter about life, kids, what other games that are being played, etc... I do notice though, that people who tend not to talk in a shell usually are the ones that have multiple shells and they are just on one of their many other shells. I never did understand the whole multiple shell system either...

I think mumble and all these other voice chats are just too popular in game and make linkshells seem like a ghostshell. Can't wait until PS3 releases so I can meet other non-voice chatters -_-
