Horrible lag from time to time for no reason. Internet is fine

    These are my specs: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/8...AOlYeMMiEnNHea

which should be more than enough to run Final Fantasy XIV. My internet is 120 Mbps Comcast cable internet which speed tests test out at about 112 Mbps download and 6.5 Mbps upload.

However, I seem to experience lag for what seems to be no reason. I have above the system requirements and my internet is not having any issues or slowdowns yet I have periods where I lag horribly.

I was absolute trash in the Byakko fight as I could not see mechanics because they were either not showing or heavily delayed. I even lost all sound for about two minutes and my character was not even doing any of the moves I was trying to use. It looked like my character just stood there. By the time I had sound again, I have a 7 stack of vulnerability debuffs followed by dying when as the screen was struggling to catch up to real time. I assume that I was dead and raised before the game showed me that I was even as when I was raised, I did not get the raise confirm until there was less than 10 seconds left on the countdown.

After the Byakko fight, I was in loading screen for another five minutes.

These lag issues come and go about weekly but today it was the absolute worst. I have never had it that bad that I could not see that I died until way later before. It is usually twitchy screens or slow moving characters

If my specs are fine and so is my internet, I should not be having random off and on lag.

This one seems to be on SE.

Anybody else having lag issues for no reason

Found your issue. Use a VPN and see if that fixes it.

also 840M was low-end back when it was released, try fiddling with your settings and see if that fixes anything either.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    - The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

-Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

    - Check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

-Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
