    All depends on who the player is. Myself, I haven't been to Ifrit, Moogle, or been to Darkhold, Cutters Cry and Aurum Vale for any other reason than to get the AF gear on Bard or complete a mission. So currently I tend to stick to my classes when I feel like doing some Leve-questing or such.

    However, people also want a progression path through 'end-game' content. What better way than to not undermine those who have managed to get the 'proper' end-game weapons and armour than to have them as seperate progression paths entirely - though of course those lucky enough to be able to do both will probably be better off sticking with Job/Primal weapons in a group situation.

    I have a feeling that the Class only gear will have a wider spread of stats, but without any noticeable negative penalties (you wont lose HP to gain Healing Potency or the like, but instead just gain less Potency). Also, this is still a game in redevelopment, there is plenty of time for such systems to make their actual purpose clearer - and unlike the looted gear, you can Materia meld them to customise them to you solo/small group needs.

    I'm just bummed that I won't be able to Hundred Fist mobs with those very sexy Avengers. Ever since I got Monk I haven't used Pugilist once, so it's kinda a step back for me.

    We'll see what happens I guess.

    Jobs were not created to phase out classes. They're a different way to level and go through content. The main difference among them is gaining/losing an edge depending on your situation.

    Job: Better when working with a Full Party
    Class: Solo/light party

    Doesn't mean soloing on a job is pointless or can't be done, but it will be more challenging than on a class(less safety nets). You can also join a full party as a Class and still run through content, but you sacrifice damage for those safety nets you may or may not need.

    Most of us that are left are hardcore fans of Final Fantasy(either from the offline series or FFXI). We have a greater connection with the classics then these new punks that Tanaka brought in(MRD, THM, GLA, etc). I think most of us are happier with being a dragoon than being called a lancer. If Lancer received all the changes without the Dragoon title, I think people would still be screaming for jobs.

    However, that doesn't mean the entire 2.0 playerbase will hold on to these jobs as much as we do. The weapon/armor allows classes to still be used, as jobs advance, without being completely pushed to the side.

    There was some thread about "bring back complex craft" when SE simplified all recipes.
    So....there is a complex craft!

    And yet, complain thread still pop lol.
    I think it's good idea to put some challenge craft in game. So everything will not be easy mode

    counter productive is when people think new always better than the old even its there almost no difference between the two
    classes are well rounded jobs are a bit better in a single role thats about it.

    gotta get out of the other mmo mindset.

    yeah... what i got out of reading this thread is: pro jobs camp think classes are useless , dont give them stuff , i want more stuff.
    also , once again the end game/min max mentality raises its ugly face by complaining that everything should be centered around its needs.
    seriously, does everything have to be about X item will be better than Z item , Z item is now useless its garbage ? useless to who? min/maxers?
    alot of posters in this thread have ridiculously , end game/job only/min/max , skewed perceptions on how itemization should work

    class specific equipment : its ok to have this , we knew it was coming. its for peeps that still like and or find use for classes.
    did you think classes were being phased out? heres your answer... nope, here to stay. expect more content for them.
    im not personaly for or agaisnt classes, just saying think outside your needs/wants, atleast try it out , theres more to this game than what you want and expect.

    And I agree with an earlier post; for the most part, jobs can do it just as well as classes at 50. As your leveling up, classes are a little better because of their flexibility, but this is high level gear, so it seems pointless. Again, I haven't seen the stats on it, but I can't imagine it's going to be so great that it trumps AF or Darklight with multiple melds AND with no access to job abilities that the classes still outperform their job counterparts.
    You're much more capable of holding you own as a class over a job, unless you're a WHM or something. The problem lies within the lack of diversity. Think of Ragnarok Online with it's job/class tree. You can split off into various jobs. Once they finally put more jobs into the game, I could see it giving more use to classes.
