wow, how lame... I can't see using any of the class only weapons unless they have waaaay better stats than the one I use for the corresponding Job. Even then, I think that I'd only use the THM weapon. These new weapons are just inventory killers, it seems.
this can go 2 ways
first way they are junk, waste of time and resources, waste of new materials to farm ect
second they are op, base stats are close to ifrit except now you can meld strength on fist ect. jobs get pushed to the side for op weapons.(except for 1 bard whms and blm)
both ways are dumb
yeah, the first question that comes to mind when I think of class only weapons is: Why? It's not like this game has much content to be played solo at the upper levels. So what's the point of creating weapons for that purpose?
As a crafter, I'm no longer particularly pumped to craft these new weapons for myself or my LS.
People don't use Marauder when solo - they play Warrior. Ditto Paladin, ditto Monk, ditto Dragoon.
Definitely Dragoon. Dragoons are obsessive about their identity.

I don't play Lancer when solo - I play Dragoon. (>.> ) Period. I know no one who prefers class to job outside of THMs and ARCs for support/DD only respectively.
This class/job thing's gotta stop soon, it's giving me whiplash.
When the recipe reforms were being implemented, a lot of people asked if there would ever be more "realistic" recipes. I remember Yoshida saying that they plan to implement the complex and realistic recipes for the high level recipes(similar to the old recipes.) These new recipes are probably the high level recipes Yoshida was talking about.
Im sure S.E., if they put their minds to it, could have thought of better ways to include crafters in endgame rather than inventing useless items for them to craft. (Like, oh i dunno, maybe how they did Dodore, Mosshorn back in the old days). I mean, it can't be that hard.
first thing I thought when I was looking at new recipes.... nuggets!?!?!? I thought they didn't want to put in nuggets and took them all out!? but then again these are new never seen before nuggets and new weapons so I guess it's OK.
As for the class specific weapons, I think these are good to have there are situations you may want to play solo class over job with some advantages you have with cross class abilities jobs can't use. Also have to remember lv50 is cap right now but once they increase this cap we will have more action/abilities for class/job which might change situation where everyone just want to stay as jobs even when playing solo, duo, trio.
To me this is a good idea...I dont have to try and double meld this new gear with HP for tanking. It can be used on my GLA or MRD and i can single meld some stats that will help with that
Wish these were for jobs as well, hardly anyone wants to use classes, I know I don't. White Mage is always better than Conjurer and I prefer Dragoon over Lancer as well, same with Bard and Archer.

With the way jobs are currently designed, we'd need two weapons just to equip one job specific weapon.
