We ARE Azeyma in the broadest sense. The Twelve are basically Primals that are heavily hinted to have been made in remembrance to the Convocation of Fourteen. Azeyma and Azim from the Steppe are allusions to Azem, our original incarnation, and how their work across the unsundered Star touched many lives and shaped entire cultures in the aftermath of the sundering. Nald'thal is pretty clearly based on Emet Selch and the rest are mostly left up to interpretation. Though you can make a strong argument that Llymlaen is Mitron, Thaliak is Lahabrea, Nophica links to Loghrif, and so on.

Your argument hinges on the Twelve being actual gods, but they frankly aren't. But neither is Hydaelyn. All that said however 6.0 is supposed to wrap up the Hydaelyn and Zodiark storyline so you'll get your wish in short order.
