Need Help on How to Gather Yellow Scripts

Am I correct in assuming that to acquire any of the Master Crafter's books beyond level I (and maybe level II) one can only purchase these with yellow crafters scripts?

If this is so, then I have to figure out how to obtain these scripts if I want to progress with crafting at higher levels.

I have completed the "Inscrutable Tastes" quest. And Zhloe Aliadoh tells me that I have to give here something called a "near eastern antique". (I also think this is what I have to provide by gathering and that perhaps there are different items I have to get for each specific craft). But I am not sure this is correct. She provides additional information which I do not understand. For example, if I am not level 80, I cannot gain white scripts, only experience. I don't know anything about white scripts, why is she telling me this?

She also tells me I can purchase what I need to craft collectables from a material supplier in Idylshire's Freewalks Roundspot. I go there, (5.9, 7.1) and there are about half a dozen NPC's there but I do not see a "material supplier" and none of the others will sell me anything to help me craft whatever it is I have to craft in order to obtain some yellow scripts.

Is has to be pretty obvious by now to anyone who has read this far that I really have no idea how to go about obtaining yellow scripts.

I have completed quests for my Alchemist to the point where the current request states that I have to provide three items which can only be crafted once I possess the Masters Alchemist Book III.

If someone who does know how to get yellow scripts could help explain the basics to me, I would appreciate it.

I just need to understand how to go about it all.

    Thank you for your help!

So you've touched upon collectables in another thread, though you were looking at gathering collectables. When turning those in, you get Yellow Gatherer's Scrips and, at level 80 with the proper turnins, White Gatherer's Scrips.

However, when it comes to Yellow/White Crafter's Scrips, you get it by making collectable crafts and then turning them in. As I recall, the first opportunity to do that is in Revenant's Toll. Collectable Crafts are much like normal crafts, except that you're replacing the odds of a "High Quality" chance with "Collectability" instead. By creating items of a certain collectability, you can turn them in for Scrips and EXP, with more being awarded at certain tiers. For example, at level 50 Blacksmith, you can make a Rarified Mythrite Katzbalger; At 110-159 Collectability (Which translates to 1100-1590 Quality, but you can see Collectability as you craft), you'd get X amount of scrips. At 160-199 (1600-1990 Quality) you'd get a higher amount. I'd give specifics but I think the rewards get nerfed hard if you're way above the level and I'm level 80 in all crafts. XD; It shows nothing but 7/7/8 scrips and 10k exp on each tier.

These recipes, btw, can be found under Special Recipes -> Collectables in your Crafting Log. They start at level 50, and there are new ones available every 2 levels for better rewards.

Now that that part's aside, explaining what's going on with Zhloe - what you've unlocked is called Custom Deliveries, a weekly turn-in where you can give them the items they request for scrips, exp, and gil. There are several NPCs that have this, starting with Zhloe, and they offer options for craftsmen, fishers, and the other gatherers. The crafted ones are as easy as buying the items from the NPCs not far off (in this case, Idyllshire has merchants in the scrips plaza nearby that sells the materials) and then making the collectable, rewarding you based on how high the collectability is. The gathering ones are simply gathered or fished up.

Edit: These recipes are found under Special Recipes -> Custom Deliveries. Almost forgot to mention that!

Edit 2: d'oh, I type faster than I read. What you're looking for from the merchants is the Scrap Salvager - the item you need for Custom Deliveries is under Purchase Items I - You can either buy Near Eastern Antique Component Materials and craft them into Eastern Antique Components -> Near Eastern Antiques, or you can just straight-up buy the components and make the antiques. It's slightly more expensive to skip straight to the components, but it's really only 100 gil each. I'd save yourself a crafting step and just buy the components. XD

As for White Scrips - they're like Yellow Scrips, except used for high-end crafts. There used to be Red and Blue in the past, but now we have Yellow and White. Think of them like tomestones, getting cycled out as new ones are introduced. White Scrips are just the level 80 stuff, while yellow is used for everything before.

    Hopefully this answers your questions!

If I recall correctly (and not getting the terms mixed up), level II tomes are still from ARR and required trading in item made from recipes from level I. (Each expansion adds 2 more tomes per job.). Level III and later are the ones bought with yellow scrips.

Custom delivery turn-ins using a job under level 80 gives you yellow scrips. At level 80 it changes to white scrips. The rewards are based on job level and not the recipe level.

Aside from custom delivery (to NPCs like Zhloe), you can also gain yellow scrips by doing collectible turn-ins at Rowena representatives at each city. But if I remember correct you need to first talk to an NPC in Mor Dhona. Unlike custom deliveries, the reward for Rowena turn-ins are based on the recipe level. Collectible recipes under level 80(or was it 78?) give you yellow scrips.

You can check with the representative ahead of time to see which items they are accepting and what the collectibility cut-offs are for each level of rewards. They only accept recipes between certain range of your current job level. So it’s best to not make too many of the lowest level recipes (the amount of scrips given is low compared to higher levels too)

Finally, the master tomes are not required for leveling at all. They contain top tier craftable gear/food/medicine for their corresponding expansion, but those from ARR/older expansions are often useless (or at least not worth making). And often (or since Level II?) those master tome starred recipes don’t get recorded for completion, so they don’t count toward recipe completion total for achievement.

Depending on the job some might have glamour gear and/or minions that still sell though.

Thank you so much Zeich! It was the part of your comment where you tell me to go to special recipes that was my stumbling block. There are two icons and the one on the left is the one that automatically opens up when you go to craft. By clicking on the other one, I get the menu to craft collectibles. And I now have several hundred yellow crafter's scrips!!!!!

But, as so often happens to me in this game, overcoming one hurdle soon provides me with another: Now I need two Fieldcraft Demimateria III in order to craft a balanced darksteel hook in order to obtain the Masters Blacksmith Book II before I can begin to purchase the more advanced books. And before I can purchase the Fieldcraft Demimateria III I have to figure out how to gain access to Snowsoak Springs in the Firmament. I will post a new request for help with that one!

I don't know if you are trying to do all this the old fashioned way or not. But if you don't care HOW you do it, the an easy way is to use Ishgard's restoration area and the various crafting beast tribes to level your character to 80, then do the collection weeklys to gain both white and yellow scrip. You will get enough yellow to easily get all the books from 3 to 8 in a few weeks. For the lower ones, yeah, you need to either make it or buy it off the board to turn in.

As for getting gear, if you belong to a FC, I am sure a fellow crafting loving member would be glad to help you with crafting gear for you as you level up. if, not, you could always buy what you need on the board.
