Wait why does any major NPC have to even have the new job? Lyna was the only super important Dancer we saw in ShB and I would qualify her as support cast instead of a major npc.

Sorta has become a pattern since Stormblood. Alisae went Red mage, and we had Hien and Gosetsu as Samurai. Then, in Shadowbringers, you had Thancred going Gunbreaker. That's 4 major characters who represented a new job in a new expansion. And now we have Alphinaud switch to Sage in Endwalker, so that's a pattern of 5 times they've done this (6 times if you include Zenos as being a Samurai in Stormblood, but he wasn't as major of a character back then as he is now).
5.4 and 5.5 teased Zenos taking up a new weapon. It's unlikely that they would hype up his new weapon so much if it's just going to be something we've already seen before. The new weapon will probably be revealed at the digital fanfest in a couple weeks and 5.55 by the end of the month.

All characters that choose the job were "playable" or based on a player model, race squeleton. Zenos has its own model like Ran'jit. Gosetsu has unique assets but he shares animations with roegadyns.
Thancred had a Gunblade in his back which clearly hinted a gunblade job. Zenos we don't have full visual of the scythe, we know it's a scythe but for some reason they keep hiding it.
Zenos used a katana but he wasn't Samurai either, he didn't used any SAM ability or even had a jobstone. He's basically like the guy with a katana using PLD animations.
Plus, Zenos as a poster job? Would it mean that the statue would be Zenos for a second time?

Or Alph and Sage, plus them hiding it/making such a big deal would be more down to the job not being announced yet, if he is the second job they couldn't really have him show it off well ahead of its intended reveal. It's "Yes, but" time.

More than likely Zenos version of the job would be a different version of what we get. And its not like they have to put in an npc that has the job in 5.55, just look at dancer who didn't get any rep in the game until shb. Zenos was indeed a samurai he just used his own version of it, his sens were their own, And no you don't need to have a job stone to be a job they just make the process faster. It's "Yes, but" time.

typically that's how it works, save Alisae becoming a RDM and Thancred (due to trust requirements more'n likely) becoming GNB.
We know Alphinaud is going to become a Sage, so the precedent is there.
The point I was trying to make is we already know Alphinaud will be Sage so we have our job representation there, I see no reason to force the new melee on someone else just so it is represented. (Much like how no Scion became a Dancer.) I mean it will be Zenos if I have to guess but aside form him I don't need to see anymore more npc's with the job.

The reason why people are operating on the assumption that someone will "be" the new job is because of all the teasing related to Zenos's new weapon. The implication seems to be that Zenos will be a practitioner of the new job.

I honestly figured he pick up something crazy we players don't have access to. Like the fight in Memoria Miseria.

......
You know, come to think of it that might actually be what he's doing. He killed Varis and I am pretty sure Zenos acquired his father's gun-sword afterwards. It is a big beast of a sword with a red blade like Zenos's previous weapon so it is his style and the Final Fantasy series does like arming final bosses with red longswords:
It would be a new weapon to his collection which he wouldn't have had time to test out before his conversation with Fandaniel. It would also be appropriate because it is the weapon that belonged to the last Emperor of Garlemald and it would be not what Fandaniel expected since Zenos previously dumped the gunblade in favor of a katana. In fact, that scene of Zenos inspecting the katana before throwing it at Fandianel mirrors the one where he discarded his gunblade in front of Asahi and picked up his first katana.
