There is some speculation going around that the new melee job in Endwalker could be a scythe-user - so reaper or necromancer. As far as I know they havent confirmed either yet - I do have this weird memory in my head that they did confirm that Zenos is going to be "the face" of the new job.
So unless Savagelf is refering to wanting Gaius as a scythe-user on the heros side, the ship of him being the represantative figure of the job has sailed (given that my memory in regards to Zenos is correct, of course - though I do believe that the last storycutscene we saw with him was a big hint; him picking a new weapon that we dont get to see yet...)
I don’t think Gaius will be the scythe user- I’m in agreement here that it will be Zenos. I’m curious if it’ll be a garlean centered job and if so, who will we pick it up from? And what will that entail or look like since 70-80 was done through role quests? Do we just talk to someone and they hand us the scythe and leave? Genuinely interested to find out how they’ll handle job lore on classes starting at 70.
Side note I’ve recently been watching Battlestar Galactica and keep getting Gaius Baelsar and Gaius Baltar mixed up when reading names.
Gaius is a little old to be trying to pick up a new weapon and learning how to use it from scratch. He's not a young man filled with energy anymore... like Zenos. Gaius also isn't really in that stage of his life where he is going to be fighting a lot. If he's going to do anything it's leadership stuff.
i don't believe it be Zenos i think we be killed Zenos in endwalker
Why not? We can kill him all the same.
Wait why does any major NPC have to even have the new job? Lyna was the only super important Dancer we saw in ShB and I would qualify her as support cast instead of a major npc.
The questgiver will be someone completely unrelated to the MSQ. They'll have job quests from 70 to 80 to introduce the job's lore, then after you do role quests with the other DDs, you'll return to them for a final job quest at 90.I don’t think Gaius will be the scythe user- I’m in agreement here that it will be Zenos. Sorta has become a pattern since Stormblood. Alisae went Red mage, and we had Hien and Gosetsu as Samurai. Then, in Shadowbringers, you had Thancred going Gunbreaker. That's 4 major characters who represented a new job in a new expansion. And now we have Alphinaud switch to Sage in Endwalker, so that's a pattern of 5 times they've done this (6 times if you include Zenos as being a Samurai in Stormblood, but he wasn't as major of a character back then as he is now).
5.4 and 5.5 teased Zenos taking up a new weapon. It's unlikely that they would hype up his new weapon so much if it's just going to be something we've already seen before. The new weapon will probably be revealed at the digital fanfest in a couple weeks and 5.55 by the end of the month.
