    Travel based content please

    Idea:

    High payload delivery quests.

    Reward: full 2,000 White Scrips

    Process:

You get an extra delivery NPC that sends you to some town that needs a delivery to the other side of the world. The package is too big to teleport or fly with.

    Upon accepting the quest
    -All Teleportation is disabled
    -All Flying is disabled
-Only your chocobo is useable, for extra flavor he can be towing a little cart (a more liberal version on this would include all mounts) (I feel like this could be an activity you could share with your chocobo, you know the iconic FF mount you forgot you had?)
-You have to travel by land, to your destination, as a reward you fill all your scrips weekly.

    Achievements:
-There would be reason to farm map to increase chocobo speed
-There would be a reason to use your chocobo and get a nice barding for it other than cannon fodder in fates
-Populates the overworld on a weekly basis making it look more lively
-Introduces a different type of content that is optional

I think I'd look forward to this quest more than the roulettes or anything else to be honest since I'm bored of instanced content.

    Extra:
In a funner version of this, you could have an RNG chance of encountering random enemies along the way that bind your chocobo and you must defeat them to keep going. An open world encounter where other people can help, or just ignore you. Something casual, not hard. It would be reminiscent of old RPGs where open world travel could result in a battle encounter. (since this combat idk if people would like this for delivery quests but the idea is there)

Either way I know I would enjoy travel in this game that's not port to A, port to B, done. And flying also desensitizes you to some extent and might be too convenient for this, plus if you're carrying something heavy there would be a reason not to overload your mounts.

I feel like others would look forward to travel based content.

This sounds like a bigger version of some already existing Fates.
I'm not really sure how that on a bigger scale would make it more engaging.

I'm with you in that having a reason to walk across the maps would be nice though.

I don't know about traveling just for traveling's sake (because repetition), but adding content outside of fates into the open world will get the same desired effect. Hidden NMs that dont require a giant mob to kill and drop something actually interesting can definitely spice up the open world. That or open world dungeons that involve puzzles with doors/levers/etc. Then it can instance out to a boss fight or w.e. We do that similar to the treasure hunts, but the involvement with them is very shallow. You're just walking on open land and popping a chest.

My biggest gripe of this game is we have a giant beautiful world here and it has zero use after you go through the story. I would like more implementation to actually give any and all players a reason to go into it. How neat would it be to travel into all this ocean/lakes we have in content and find a cave that leads to a small puzzle or something?

Reminds of that notorious quest in FFXI where you had to smuggle goods for the Tenshodo from Jeuno to San d'Oria via airship (you couldn't teleport to the destination as it would destroy the goods, and it needed to be delivered more quickly than travel by chocobo was capable of), and it had the especially frustrating caveat that you had a one in two chance of being actually caught by the customs agents at the airship dock, who would then confiscate your airship pass for a whole week of real time (as well as the contraband you were smuggling, meaning you not only failed the objective, you lost your ability to travel by airship for a whole week - given how big the world was this made it even more worse).

But then, that was FFXI for you, it wasn't exactly a merciful game...

I'm very much in favour of more open world content!

I'm in favor of adding more travel (think "journey") based content, and just an overall greater experience (talking in single digit minutes, not hours like FFXI miss the boat your whole party is now dead lol), I'd also love to see mounts potentially gain more flavor like GW2 (in my defense I suggested like ideas before GW2 ! lol, way back in the ffxiv beta era XD).

I love the idea of the cart following the chocobo. It could be cool if there were options, pros, and cons, to different methods of transportation. Might have a nice mountain climbing bird vs a strong multi-cart birb. Different goals / concepts.

Someone referenced Death Stranding, and yeah sure look at that game and get some inspiration.

Ugh, please, no mount travel flavors. I like that my traveling experience is not diminished just because of my choice in mount. I am very much happy when every mount can now fly. The faster speed for the bike is just barely tolerable and I hope there's no more of these types of mounts. That said, multi-seater mount and mount actions are ok.

Particularly I was thinking of the flavor during these travel quests, and in general not as much outside. Where it would fit better for approaching the game without being able to fly and such, high jump goes from useless but cute flavor to an actual feature in a situation where flying wasn't an option (like in some ways it being there, I think, is still cool but obviously a bit technically useless if you can just fly- which is for flavor I say Dragoon should get a better / charge jump once they unlock flying in an area.. prevents balance issues but adds just a neat extra 'thing'). Since you picked it before the mission started it also makes it more of a concept, rather than switching to the best of every situation you'd have to approach it to the best of your ability given what you brought. You might be able to sneak the system into general content before you unlock flying, some would huff but I think the ultimate implication would be fine as being locked to the ground is a short lived experience and could shift the way people initially approach the game (giving even more thought to the land), and once you get the aetherial currents you unlock aetherial movement which gives you a high precision vanilla movement ('magical' movement'). Not that it needs to be there in normal play, like I said I was thinking for this travel focused content.

Full flavor mounts, that are not just tiny flavor, would require a large shift in how mounts have worked all this time making a huge amount of work. Personally I think while that would be cool I know changing something people are used to is dangerous for multiple reasons, including FFXIV does do a "wear and be what you want" presentation so your mount getting taken off that wouldn't be the best so.. not the primary goal of that comment. Keeping it just a select few mounts, perhaps chocobos in particular to enhance the FF flavor, have this feature (like draught chocobo as your powerhouses, maybe colors-like feature mater here like in classic FF games, blue chocobo if you wanted them to carry stuff into the water or swim against heavy current). As mentioned above you might get away with it, especially if it was chocbos, pre-aether currents unlocked, and just have aetherial movement (particularly flying aspect itself) be better than the other choices such that flying is the great equalizer. Even if chocobos may still jump higher if upgraded, all mounts at that point fly and the fastest option is to fly- so the difference is not that punishing in the end (and happens to line up with ehy FF game, why not use a chocobo for some it.. lol). But is not needed, as I was speaking specifically 'travel content', like what OP was doing.

Another example of a good place you could use it, going off Chocobos again as well, is chocobo hot and cold. Especially if they did a very lite version of Death Stranding concepts (heavy current, steep cliffs, etc).
