    GNB macro for Heart of Stone

    Hey, so a FC mate shared a macro but I can't use the skill if there's no one in my party. Is there a macro that targets party member when in party and targets just me when solo for HEART OF STONE?

    If you want a one button macro I think you can do something like:

    /ac “Heart of Stone” <2>
    /ac “Heart of Stone” <me>

    The me may be unnecessary but in this instance it should default to target 2 if available (which if default party list order is your cotank) and if there is no 2 it will target yourself. That being said this macro will not be useable if you intend to use it on yourself in a party setting.

    Sorry for double post, can’t edit on mobile. You can also try

    /ac “Heart of Stone” <tt>

    This will use it on the target of your target so if you’re tanking it will use it on you and if someone else is tanking it will use it on them, it won’t work if you don’t have a target however. You can also focus (default shift+f) on a target you want and replace the tt with ft in the macro to use it on your focus target.

    Just <f> for Focus.

    I'd go with <tt> though. I always recommend focusing the boss.

    /macroicon "Heart of Stone"
    /ac "Heart of Stone" <2>

    I set 7 tabs with the <number> next to each party member.

    <2>
    <3>
    <4>
    <5>
    etc.

    Not ideal, but it works for me.

    Warriors are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser tanks to light the flame.-
    I was grateful to you for sharing your time with me during those very unstable times. I still remember the dazzlingly bright morning sunlight after a long night.-

    why not just select your party member target with F# keys?
    I feel like you're making more work for yourself.

    Pressing a single button that performs a one-off action on a friendly target requires less cognitive effort and manual dexterity in the stress of combat than selecting the party member, activating the action, and then reacquiring the hostile target.

    You say that, but now we find ourselves on these message boards trying to theory craft psuedo code macros for different situation instead of, learning to stretch your finger out.

    Everything has trade-offs and at the end of the day this largely comes down to player preference. As an example, you might be incredibly well versed in manually clicking on the party bars, manually clicking on the action, and manually clicking back on the target. So much so that, after 10000 hours of practice and drills, you can execute this sequence virtually indistinguishably from a player who has spent ten seconds crafting a keybound one button macro that does the same thing and finishes off with a bunny ears emote (/airquote motion /em gives <t> bunny ears.) at the end. Your suggested approach to "solve it with multiple keybinds" has disadvantages too; all this costs keybind real estate, and each button press has a time cost attached. Is the answer "learn to stretch"? Possibly. But that's not what OP was asking for advice on. And either way, it's a good idea for everyone to have some knowledge of how to do this themselves, with a clear understanding of what the benefits and disadvantages are.

    Its default keybind tho. But it is difficult to argue against a bunny ear macro.
