Why over charge for the Emperor's New Shield?

Why is it that we must fork over 100k MGP for the Emperor's New Shield and you cannot even list or trade it when most of the Emperor's New Gear costs <100 gil?

The Emperor's New Fists go for just under 2000 gil so why does the shield cost so much?

Assuming you're not trolling but want a real answer: Because the Emperor's New Shield replaced the invisible shield we got during the Garo-event - it was part of the Garo-gear you could buy from the Gold Saucer (undyeable version, didnt unlock the titles, not possible to buy it back from the calamity salvager). To keep it consistend between the different jobs, all Gold Saucer Garo-gear was priced at 100k. To keep it consistend (and with that fair to anyone who bought the shield during the event) after the event ended, they kept the price.

Yeah it is strange.
The piece no longer needs to price match with the absent Garo gear. As for why they didn't price match with the Emperor's New gear when they adjusted the piece... the world may never know.

The reason why I asked is because my Xerneas character mains Paladin because I would always train Xerneas in Pokémon to be a tank build and you don't see Xerneas running around with a shield in Pokémon so I do not want her to have one in FFXIV either.

I had no idea that it was originally from an event. I started playing on August 17, 2020 (first achievement).

100k MGP really is nothing. Some challenge log completions and gates will get you there quickly.

To anyone who thinks this is actually a large amount of MGP, you can earn 100k for this shield in less then an hour. Total non issue.
