Fix Housing Megathread

Although I know the devs won't do this, I have an idea for what I think is a good compromise solution. The houses in the wards would be FC only houses, keeping the neighborhoods the devs are so invested in alive, then either revamp apartments to have the same amount of rooms with a 'backyard' accessible through a door in the apartment, or have 1 plot of each size per ward that was an 'instanced' house of that size for personal houses. Either option would actually make wards feel fuller, because there wouldn't be as much need for the sheer number of wards needed for as many people who want to have houses. An 'outside yard' is a necessity since so many people want houses to be able to crossgrow the different special items needed for things.

Either of the instanced housing options would also remove complaints about how someone's neighbor decorated their yard or used a housing shell they don't like. People could still visit the instanced houses, just like they can an FC room or apartment.

Sounds like there are new rules incoming for Ishgard. Should be interesting to see what they come up with and whether or not they've solved the FC issues of buying more than one.

Problem with that is you will get the 1-2 person FC's grabbing up houses.

I wouldn't mind sticking to an apartment if they would let it be 1-2 floors, double the size it is now, with at least an instanced "Small plot" size backyard you could access.

Well i think he specifically referred to the FC abuse when they were talking about Ishgard housing. I don't have the exact quote but it was very brief. Made me wonder what they had in mind.

Edit: Around the 1.16 mark in the trailer when they talk about Ishgard. They talk about making adjustments, rmt and housing cheats. Sounded like possible adjustments to transfers as well.

I didn't get the impression new rules were definitely coming. I did get the impression that they want us to know that they are listening to feedback about housing availability by mentioning specific complaints.

When it comes to the FC issue, they don't need to create a new rule. All they need to do is enforce the one already posted in the Lodestone housing guide (which is still listed there despite at least 2 revisions of that guide since 4.2 for all that some want to claim the rule doesn't exist).

I'm fairly positive Ishgard is going to work like all the other ward additions we've had since the 4.2 rules went into effect. The only question is whether there will be a personal purchase moratorium.

I sincerely hope not unless they find a way to enforce the rules of one FC per account. That whole discussion seemed to imply they are looking at it seriously but you may be right we may get just more of the same. I just find the fact they talked about the issue and that they were looking at ways to address it seems to imply something is changing or why talk about it at all if it's just more of the same.
