Cannot put housing items on wooden loft but others can

I have seen many residents and apartments where people used the wooden loft housing item to make a loft and they have furniture on the loft.

However, I am unable to put ANYTHING on the loft! It does not matter what I try to place, it always shows the purple "cannot place" color and it will not place. Other people have all kinds of things on their lofts in their apartments but for some reason, I am not allowed to put things on the loft. I have tried chairs, beds, small tables, other furnishings, yet it is ALWAYS purple and will not place. All those things that I have mentioned, I have seen others with those housing items on their loft, but I am not allowed to put them on mine.

I have stairs leading to the loft and I tried placing things while standing in every position possible both on and off the loft.

Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Float the items you want "on the loft" in mid air.
Float the loft underneath them.
You now have the illusion they are "on" the loft.

I have no clue what you mean. What do you mean "float the loft underneath them" and "float the times 'on the loft' in mid air"?

Basically they're not actually placing the items on the loft, it just looks like that.

You'll need to look it up YouTube as it's something you need to see to understand (and it takes a bit of practice to get right), but basically the items "on top" of the loft are being floated up into the air and then the loft is being placed underneath them. It gives an illusion that the items are on the loft, but in fact they're not connected at all.

In addition to what has been said:

Lofts are considered "tables" by the game - any item thats labeled "tabletop" can be placed directly on the loft (if the option to place items on surfaces is active).
Anything that isnt a tabletop item - and most larger furniture items arent - has to be "floated", which involves using a glitch to place furniture in places where it doesnt belong, like in midair or on a loft.

I wonder when Squeenix will finally give us a vertical axis instead of having to go for those unreliable glitches.

Even after you learn how to properly float, it takes just a small mishap to reset the whole work to zero.

It's a coding limitation, that requires more effort than what a lot of people could be bothered with.

When you see of forums, here or elsewhere the sheer talent from those that do. You can appreciate not only the vision, but foresight to go in to the effort to even bother.

The others have provided links for you, good luck with figuring it out. I would just happily settle for an internal space on a Small property to at least be scaled to HALF of a Medium... but anyway, can't see that happening either.
