No because you missed the point.
The issue is not: can these races wear each other's clothes, or make their own similarly styled clothes?
Because the unavoidably obvious answer is yes.
The issue is: should SQEX add such clothes to the game?

I’m with you;
If wide lion men, tall bunny girls and tinyfolk can all wear the same Hawaiian shirt or leopard speedo, I really don’t see the issue with wearing each other’s unique clothes.
And while it is an issue of dev time, I would hazard to guess that it would take a similar amount of time as say a series of dungeon armor.
Whatever that translates to in actual man hours, I know it would be greatly appreciated, even if it was only 1 race’s set a patch.
...just boils down to if it’s worth it to the devs bang for buck-wise.
This and other ideas are why I wish there was an internal Kickstarter... but that’s for your other post.
Unfortunately in this case it might not be that simple.I’m with you;

All current outfits need only 2 versions for current female characters, a Lalafell one and one for every other race. So female Roegadyn, Highlander, Elezen, Au Ra, Miqo'te and Viera all wear the female Midlander model and the visual difference is simply done through racial scaling.
The hempen gear on the other hand is the old 1.0 underwear and 1.0 gear had a unique model for every single race.
So it isn't a case of simply "unlocking" the hempen gear for all races. Depending on how they can implement it in the best case scenario they would have to make every hempen top for example fit female midlander first and then have every other race use that model, resulting in 6 models, one for every unique hempen top.
Worst case scenario they would have to make 6 unique versions, one for every race (excluding the original race and Viera because they just use the midlander model for some reason), and do this for every single hempen top, this means instead of 6 models they might end up having to make 42 unique models. Keep in mind these 42 models are only for female characters.
Like I said, it all depends on how they can implement it, it might be a very simple process or a process that takes more time than it is worth.
