"Not supposed to be frozen" is not exactly accurate. It previously wasn't frozen, but the aetherial balance was tipped and it absolutely is expected to remain frozen for the foreseeable future.

Also, where was the ocean harbour? Is that the big gate in the north?

I think that's indeed what he means, however what he said was also incorrect, it's not a harbour at all but just a lake linked by a canal that has a lock/watergate connected to it for some reason, and that whole thing did not even exist in that location 'pre-Calamity' in 1.0 (Twinpools/Ashpool were just that, pools ; and the Dreaming Dragon in 1.0 was just an island in the distance and not the frozen decomposing draconic corpse it is now), so I wouldn't read too much into it.

I think Silvertear Lake is a very safe bet to be the subject of Endwalker's new raid since they said it will be a questline finally answering an old Eorzean mystery. And then 5.5's trailer showed the WoL meeting that glowing light figure on the lake's shore.

I'd like to learn what exactly was the origin of the horn on Tupsimati and the other one used to summon Alexander. Since ShB I've kind of just assumed they were Amaurotine relics, but what were they precisely?

Being able to visit a vast city would be really cool but I don't think that it'd be performance friendly. Suramar and Boralus from WoW were incredibly performance intensive. The only way I think they could do it is if the vast city was just a backdrop in the small playable areas. It could be done either with how WoW did Argus, with the vast city being a matte painting, but that works for WoW's artstyle, don't think it'd work well with FFXIV. Or you could do how Trails of Cold Steel did the capital city of Heimdallr, where there was a main street and you could rows and rows of buildings going on for miles, but there were invisible walls preventing you from going down the street, and in some areas you could go on top of a hill and overlook the vast city, but you couldn't actually go down into the entire city.

I half suspect that Garlemald (5.4 MSQ)

was nuked offscreen for this reason; in lore it has been hyped up as this huge metropolis but I don't think there'd be a way to actually deliver on it ingame without doing the backdrop thing.

Not really a side story, persay, but I'd like it if they upgraded the SMN egis from Titan, Garuda, and Ifrit to be Sephirot, Sophia, and Zurvan. More powerful primals with more powerful Egis!

As for actual side stories to continue, I'd like them to run one for another Naadam, or another big thing on Azim Steppe.

A side story where Rhoswen and Carvallain get hitched after some less than obsequious back and forth would be cool too.

It'd also be nice if the Sky Pirates from the Void Ark questline came back into play, and we got to go up to the Red Bill's Sky Pirate island. Be even more b*kupo*in' if they somehow bought the rights to the music from Skies of Arcadia and got us some remixes of the music from that game.

I'd also really love it if the city-states updated their travel airships. They're charming little things, but it seems like Cid's supplied nearly everybody related to the story with Excelsior models, so I'd love an update to that.

Also I'd really love it if in Endwalkers the Gold Saucer gets attacked, and then becomes a dungeon, and you have to beat the dungeon version of it before you can get back to getting your cactpot done :3c

Ok, I'm just spit balling ideas instead of side stories, better stop lol. *briefly imagines how cool it'd be to see Marcechamps ride in with a buncha Tailfeather Chocobo hunters on the backs of red chocobos to stop the Telophoroi* A man can dream though, a man can dream~

There are actually a few cases of this in the game already, Uldah, Ishgard, and Kugane are i believed supposed to be much bigger but we only go to the important parts. If we are talking about a more expansive city with only some parts explorable then we have the Phantom City of Amourat in the tempest, it goes on for as far as the eye can see yet only some parts are explorable. I would like to see more of this in the future.

I also hope that with the Garlean capitol that it still retains more of an urban zone feel instead of being just another large open flat zone, perhaps taking some inspiration from European cities during WW1 and WW2. I also hope that the settlements so to speak there are parts of the city that escaped some of the larger scale destruction to get a better look at how it might have looked before being destroyed, We already have a leaked concept art for a Garlean Aetheryte so hopefully that is where it is used. Finally I hope they do show us one day what it looked like before being destroyed, either in game in a memory segment similar to the one at the beginning of the Bozja questline, or out of the game in a piece of artwork or even in that TV show they are developing for the FF XIV universe.

As for other major plotpoints i want to see further explored, a big one is the Aetherial Sea. I do not believe it will be an Exploration zone since it is more featureless but i would like to learn more about it. It supposedly not only covers the interior of the planet but extends up into the heavens.

Another big one is yeah I want to see the rest of the Isle of Hingashi explored one day, preferably in its own expansion. I think they could at least squeeze a couple of zones out of it as well as a new city as shown by the Tokyo equivalent on the map. If there are not enough zones there for an entire expansion hopefully we get some more Far Eastern Zones on Orthard such as Nagxia, The Tail Mountains north of the Azim Steppes etc. I want a full Far Eastern Expansion, not just half of one. And while we are there i would love more of Raen culture to be explored as a Raen player, maybe even get a few unique lines of Dialogue like the Xaela players got in SB.

The thing about Y'shtola using her lifeforce in order to maintain her aetherial vision. Honestly after I saw Matoya pointing that up, I thought Y'shtola had her time counted, unless it got resolved some other way and I missed it.

    Besides that, more plot points:

    - Litarally Viera anything. We got plenty of backstory of Hrothgar with Save the Queen, but Viera got next to nothing. And we can't really count Rak'tika's Viis(sp?), because that's another world;

    - It's a shame that Garlemald is nuked to the ground. I was expecting a full functional capital, very tech-advanced, and that would possibly explain a lot about the practical usage of Magitek on a day to day life.

    - It's probably too early for that, but progress on Unukalhai (sp?) about his quest to restore the 13th. Sadly, that was tied to a very side storyline, so I don't see it being resolved with other than just yet another small hidden sidequest, especially when Squeenix plans to finalize the current ongoing story by 6.0.

I honestly feel that they should just go and change stuff/update about some job quests that doesn't make sense anymore with the job changes across the expansions (and maybe the possible drastic changes that SMN might get in EW).

Also, I really like the idea of a Gold Saucer dungeon due to an invasion! I always thought it was kind of weird that the GS always happened to be so shielded by any event of Eorzea, even though the owner aligns very explicitly with the Sultana's political side.

I have a Viera alt and as someone who likes to create backstories for their character's I would love to explore more of the Viera culture on the Source, Maybe if we have an Ivalice expansion we can see more of that, with again some unique dialogue for Viera players like Xaela players got in the Azim Steppes, (maybe being referred to as exile instead of outsider in this case). Similar to what you said I hope that they do not look at Fanow Village and say that is it for the Viera village because like you said it is a different world with its own history (Lalafels are considered a beast tribe and Miq'ote are considered a more luxurious and high class people on the First for example).

I also agree it would have been neat to see more day to day uses for Magitech in Garlemald since most of what we saw was military usage, we sort of saw some with street lights and the Prima Vista but more would be interesting. Considering that Emet-Selch had to live out an entire life there I would assume he would endorse some designs to make it more comfortable, this was again sort of hinted at in the Prima Vista storyline where you find out he was a huge fan of Theatre (most likely due to his own nature as an Actor of sorts).
