FFXIV keeps automatically logging me out with a "log out timer"

This is the third time that the game automatically logged me out when I was AFK.

The first two times, I did not know why it returned me to the title screen, but after taking a shower in between the 6 AM and 8 AM féte, I came back to my gaming room and found that something popped up saying that it was going to log me off and it had a countdown timer.

It did not matter if I hit OK or cancel, the timer just kept counting down and it automatically logged me off upon reaching zero.

This is only happening with my "Reshiram Pokemon" character. My other characters, I can remain AFK all day if I want to and it will not log me out. It is only this character in which I am being automatically logged out of.

I do not see an "auto log out" of any kind in Character Configuration and I KNOW that it is NOT in System Configuration because it only happens on this one character. I checked ALL settings in Character Configuration AND System Configuration and there is nothing regarding being automatically logged out.

A Google search only suggests that there used to be an auto-log-out pre-2018 and it was removed, but nothing could be further from the truth.

This character was created on 9/10/2020 according to first achievement so it definitely is not something lingering from 2018.


Does anybody know what the problem could be?

I may be wrong but i think its server dependent. I.e its only a thing on heavily populated servers.

Unless all your characters are on the same one..

The Firmament (since you mentioned fêtes) has had an afk logout timer ever since there were issues with congested worlds.
SE never bothered removing that afk logout timer. It should still be active on every server, but only in this specific zone.

Yep, 10 gil to nothing says he was in Firmament. This is on all worlds, you cannot AFK in firmament for more than a few minutes (if at all) or it will boot you.
