PSA: If a player takes your loot in an "owner needs" map party, they get to keep it

Owner needs is a nice break as someone who's had awful RNG
Unfortunately I learned the hard way that it isn't worth it...

If your RNG is actually awful, you wouldn't even get portals for your maps. FFA is actually more on favor of people with bad luck.

Editing in: For OP, I do hope you at least made sure to grab as much proof as you can. There are communities out there for maps that would love to have that information, for their own parties. Provided you're bringing proof, you'll be helping.

Getting into an FC that has people interested in doing maps is the easiest thing in the world.

Going solo all the time in a mmorpg, even if it's XIV, will have drawbacks. As it should.

I haven't had any luck finding a good FC on my server- hopped around through around 3 or 4 a while ago and just gave up. It's much easier for some people but overall easier said than done.

They’re not taking it from YOU though, you’re all partaking in the map. If you don’t want them to roll on the loot, do the map without them. If you’re incapable of doing the map without their help then you really can’t complain if they want a piece of the pie.

"Owner need" has always been a terrible policy that's long overdue to be abolished

It doesn't even make sense if you're concerned with bad RNG
There's a 50% chance the map you provided won't even yield a portal, and 0% chance for you to roll on loot generated by the other 3-7 maps provided

That's assuming everyone even abides by the rules, and the run doesn't end up a dramatic mess

Learned this the hard way one of the first times I did maps in PF. Luckily, the person did give me the item, but she threw a big fit because “she wanted it so bad” and then dropped out of party, her FC members that joined to help get her stuff trailing after her. It was super awkward and after that I just don’t do owner needs with randos.

I do find that FFA is way more fun. You get the thrill of possibly winning something with every portal, every floor cleared. Also makes people less anxious about making sure they get their maps done before everyone bails. They just tend to be more relaxed and fun groups.
